Short Ram Air Install

I just bought an AEM short Ram Intake on some advice from my friends at work. I have a 1997 Cavalier 2.2L with 128k on it. Will this mess up my engine at this point? Also, is there any funny things that can happen from this install that I should know up front? And finally, it does not have a cut out in the tube like the OEM vent tube. Is this an issue and should I send it back to the vendor? I am new to this kind of stuff, but I have put blocks and engines together just never messed with after market performance upgrades before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and Best Regards,

Shawn

If you cant figure out how to install a cold air intake and dont know whether or not its bad for your engine, then i HIGHLY doubt you have any car experience...contrary to what you said. You put together blocks huh? I think most of us put blocks together in fuckin kindergarten.

If you need help, just ask. Dont come in here and attempt to bullshit us

I was fifteen when I worked with my father putting blocks together (before advanced computer monitors). Should have put that in there. With short ram air I have been told the idle will shift and need to be adjusted, I will blow white smoke for a few days, and that the the computer will throw errors. My question, I thought was pretty straight forward. Are these statements true or not? With 128K on this engine I don't want to run it too lean and I am not up to speed with the computer diagnostics or the coding or crap like that.

A CAI doesnt move enough more air to mess anything up. To be honest, the only thing you're going to notice other than a little better throttle response is a louder engine noise when you step on it. Your ECU will adjust rather quickly to the change...there shouldnt be any smoke and the idle shouldnt change

Thank you for that peace of mind about the smoke and computer adjustment being fine. I messed up by purchasing this short ram off of ebay! I went outside and the IAT has no place in the new tube and I don't think that the hood will close properly once installed. Is it unheard-of to combine the stock elbow with the new tube on these installations? Of course I guess if I did that I could take the two silicone tubes and just hang them up for an ornament...lol
