Tried searching the forum, and either I'm searching wrong or it's not on here. I don't have an owners manual yet but need to change the oil. Was told the 1.0 holds 4 qts. Is this correct?? Thanks

3.5 quarts, do not overfill. You're better off putting in 3 but you have to keep an eye on the level as you've lost half of your safety margin. You'll actually get better mileage and more power with less oil. I put in 3 and find that when I go to change it 5,000 miles later it's dead on "add a quart".

If your car burns or leaks oil and you're not fanatic about checking it regularly, put in the 3.5 it asks for.

+1) 3.5 quarts go into every oil/filter change with the 1 liters in my fleet.
FWIW - the 1.3's take 4 quarts oil/filter change.

3.5 Qt's leaves my 1.0L 94 Metro a little low on the stick, but good advice here for a starting point. Start with 3.5 and check the stick after warming up the engine, then letting the car sit OFF for 10 mins . I pour approx 1/2 QT of oil directly into the new filter, then let it set for a min a soak the oil up, then install it and pour 3 Qt's thru the valve cover. After a couple of mins of run time to check for any leaks, I shut it off and let it set for 10 mins, then recheck the oil level.....My 94 Metro usually needs another 1/4 Qt of oil to top it off to the full line.

owners manual and factory service manual says, "3.7 quarts" with filter. However filters may vary in size.
