Stupid cupholders

Anyone have any suggestion on how to make these cupholders suck any less? I have a 2000 Venture and the cupholders are ABSOLUTLEY TERRIBLE! You have to keep one hand on your drink turning any corners, and driving up or down hills. May as well not even have them. At least it's been a few months since my Venture has broke down...:naughty:

While I don't have any ideas to help you at this time, I do have an observation. I bought my Venture back in '98. Back then the cups seemed to fit fine. Over the years I suspect fast food places have either supersized their drinks, or redesigned their cups,(or both). I have the same issue you have now, that didn't seem to exist 10 years ago. Maybe we should complain to these places to either redesign their cups, or go back to the old style. In fact my 2006 Uplander has the same issue. I was turning a corner last Spring and ended up losing a Full Extra Large size Dunkin' Donuts Turbo Ice Coffee on the passenger side carpet. You never saw somebody drive so fast to locate a car wash woth a good vacuum cleaner to use. I can't remember, but do the cup holders in your van have those little "felt" or some other material "fingers" that are supposed to help secure the drink? And if so are they still attached to the cupholder? My 1994 C1500 pickup had those little "fingers", and over time became detached from the cupholder, making the drink loose in the holder. I was told that the dealer parts dept. sells those little "fingers" to replace the ones that are missing. I remember the "good old days" when all we had available to use was those plastic cup holders you bought at the parts store for .99 cents, that fit between your inner door panel and the window of the door. Those did a better job at securing your drink than the newer factory installed ones.

They are the little useless felt things. I ended up with Biscotti coffee all over my carpet. And it stinks! Now i have to shampoo it...I agree! Those little cupholders that attached to the door would work better than there. maybe i should invest in a heavy console and forget about the factory cupfolders!

I bought my 99 in the Fall of 99 when I had two kids with one on the way. I now have four kids. My van has those cup holders on the front and middle seats that fold out from the side of the seat into the walk path in the middle of the van. Yup you guessed it, I' don't know when but it wasn't long after we got the van that both cup holder were stepped on and were broke. Now, I'm one of those guys when its broke I fix it, however not these things. My youngest is 3 and we still have to travel through the middle during trips so I decided long ago that GM really screwed up this design and I wasn't going to put money into something that was pretty much guaranteed to get stepped on again.

It looks dorky (at least mine does), but go to WalMart or some other auto accessories place and get you one of those center console thingy's with the cup holders. You can move it out of the way when you need to get to the back for some face to face time with someone who is acting up.

Happy Trails...
