whats going on guys, i hope this is not a re-post, im at work and have very little time so i ddint do a search (bad me)..but anyhow, my mom has a 99 sports trac and she calls me yesterday and tells me that while she was driving the truck cut off and she couldnt steer. now my sister has an 03 mustang 5 speed and it has been doing the exact same thing..turning off loosing all power. what i have found in test driving it and having it do it to me is, the steering wheel doesnt lock up, u just loose the power steering pump. so with the mustang we just put it in neutral and start it back up while rolling along and we keep going lol. now im thinking the truck is having the same issue. in the mustang forum we were told that the pcm needed to be flashed, or when we tuned the car that problem would go away. heres my thing...have any of you guys had this problem, and if so what did u do to correct it? my sisters mustang still does it because she just havent gotten the thing flashed smh... but i cant have mom in philly driving in busy traffic have this continue to happen to her, im in florida so im usless and all i can do is give her advise over the phone, so i figured i would give u fine folks a shot...thanks in advance, and sorry for the long ass post.....

Hey rs:
Is the check engine light coming on in your Mom's Explorer? If so, have her take it any Auto Zone up here and they'll scan it for free. If a code comes up, post the code here on the forum and I'm sure someone can point you in the right direction as to what your Mom should do next. Good luck.

I would say you should get some sort of code. Although the vehicle stalls the same as your sisters doesn't mean it's the same issue. Lots of things can make vehicles stall.
I'm not to knowlegable in Mustangs, but unless you gave the Mustang forum a much better explenation of your problem, or someone is phsycic, I would like to know how they came to the conclusion the PCM needs to be flashed. Again, I'm not to knowlegable in Mustangs and it's possible it's a common issues with Mustangs.
This being said.....your Ex problem could be it needs a tune up, clogged fuel filter (which might r might not leave a code). Could be a bad sensor (most probably would leave a code)

Did either one of them loose thier serpentine belt? Is it sqealing at all? Does it still have tension? Loosing all power while driving could be an alternater, which is ran on the same belt the power steering pump is.....Just a suggestion.
