CHECK THIS OUT!!
I'm taking bets on what would win in a straight line drag, a brand new Saleen Mustang, top of the line, or a F150 Lightning with a bord-out engine, beefed tranny and better exhaust?
My money is on the Saleen personally, just wanted to know what anyone else thinks.
I have a pool going on with my Uncle and cousins, my uncle has a Saleen (he lives in NY) and my buddy that i'm going to NY with has the Lightning described. We're joking about which would be better straight line 1/4 mile, and it's suddenly become serious.
Very intense!! :ylsuper

It depends on the Saleen Mustang.
There is the NA S281, which has a 4.6 liter modular V8 making 285hp, the supercharged S281E, making 425hp, and then there is the S351, which uses the 351 Windsor V8, also supercharged, at 505hp.
If it's a NA S281, I'd put my money on the Lighting, but if it's a blown Saleen, it'll probably cook that Lightning.

If its a brand new saleen then it cant be the S351, since they only made it one year back in I think 95. If it is the newer body lighning with the supercharged 5.4, then it will walk even the supercharged s281.
Just a smaller pully, shift kit, exhaust and chip and your pulling mid to low 12s no problem. Now if its the older Lightning trucks with the 351, it doesnt have a chance. Well, maybe it could tie if the Saleen is not supercharged.
Let us know how the race goes, and watch out for the fiesta, there pretty darn mean with a K&N.

Its obvious that you don't know what you are talking about. Its the wing in the back that makes all the difference not the rims.

This (http://www.shotimes.com/SHO4_jayl.html) is one Festiva you won't beat on foot...or in your car:p.

Hehehe, i dunno the specs on the Saleen, but the Lightning is the older one with the 351.
Guess that settles it! I'll let you know what happens when/if it happens.

Ha, good to see there are people as crazy as myself out there, Carrrnutt!
Of course, there is my plan of dropping a H22A Prelude engine/tranny/cradle into the back of a Del Sol, and having a nice little weekend car...
Too bad I'll have to sell it to recoupe the cost, just like all my other project cars :(

Well, since you want the H22 because of its displacement, why not go further and just swap an H22 head onto an H23? I have heard of these set-ups running close to 300HP all-motor properly tuned...with the proper internals, of course:D.
Lemme know, I know a good source for motors.

I was thinking an H22A because I could get it delivered to my door, and then worry about dropping it in...
Tell me more about this near 300hp NA engine :D

Basically, it works like an LS/VTEC or a b20 motor with a b16 head. The H23 is the non-VTEC motor for the '92 to '97 Prelude. It has a higher displacement than the H22, obviously. You can swap the head so that you'll have the best of both worlds, the higher displacement of the H23, and the better breathing of VTEC.
B20 motors have been known to pruduce up to 240HP NA. You could just imagine what an extra .3 liters of displacement can produce.

I see what you mean... Is there anyone running stroker Hondas? That would make the engine slightly less rev happy, but it would still see 7000rpm easily enough, and have much better low end torque.
No replacement for displacement. Now at this point someone is going to say "turbochargers!" or "nitrous!". Guess what, put those on a bigger engine, you'll see better results :p.
So what's the biggest Honda 4 cylinder? I would supposed the H23...

Currently, The biggest Honda four is the K24 in the New CR-Vs. Those can be topped-off with a K20A2's head from the RSX-S.
The H22/H23 can be stroked too. Custom, but possible.

So how much can they be stroked? Since they're so oversquare, I assume there are some pretty big gains to be had.
I want to avoid any brand new stuff, like the K series... way too expensive for this project.
