Hey guys, I'm paining my Cherokee. One of the things I know literally nothing about is painting vehicles.
I can take it apart and put it together but I can't paint it. Basically, I'm here to ask if anyone can give me the downlow on the different types of paint and the pros and cons of each. I can't seen to find them anywhere.
Acrylic Enamel
Urethane Basecoat/Clearcoat
Single Stage Urethane
Acrylic Laquer
Any help would be a big thanks.

Well you've started off right by posting in the auto paint section the people in there would give the best advice as it's mostly professional painters that help there. You're like alot of us in here know how to disassemble and reassemble and fix problems but not painting aspect.

Go to your local paint store and ask the counter guys if they know anyone that will just spray your car if you wet sand it and tape it off... Alot of body guys hang out in the part store...
A local guy here painted my car for 100... i took it to his house and taped it off and wet sanded it... He used the single stage paint... he painted it about 4 yrs ago and its finally starting to fade pretty bad but hey it was a 100 bucks four years ago... The paint held up ok but we don't drive the car in the winter and we have only waxed it once since its been painted..
believe me when I tell you he did nothing but paint the car... THere was some sand on the bumper possibly blown around by his spray gun and he painted right over it... but all i wanted to is clean the rust up... it was well worth it
good luck
