Do your rear brakes look ok?Could be a defective brake hose with a deteriorated lining that acts as a one-way valve and won't let brake fluid return to the master cylinder, the hose liner swells up and acts as a restriction to fluid flow, The pressure developed by your foot and the booster can overcome this resistance but the return springs (rear) or the elasticity of the caliper seals(front) cannot so once you have used your brakes a bit the pressure is so much it holds you brakes on cuz the fluid isn't returning to you master. If its an 86 and the lines are fairly old that is your best bet. hope i helped

I have also heard of the booster push rod being out of adjustment even though i dont know if it would cuase the problem your having, just ideas I still think the hose is your best bet though

I dont understand, my sisters 4runner had that problem, her one brake was smoking it was so hot and i replaced the line and it was fine. Can you tell if its the front brakes or the rear?

Glad i could help, sounds like you have a brand new braking system haha. The positive side is that you wont have any problems with it for a long time. I still have nightmares about driving and having no brakes
