Limewire Warning

For those of you who download using Limewire, heed this warning. Ditch it! Erase it, get it off your computer. Limewire is a file sharing program so what comes in also goes out.

A very close friend of mine just got nailed and is scared for his life. This is as bad as it gets...

My friend (who will remain nameless at this time) is your typical guy, father and husband. He browses porn from time to time as many of us guys do. I've known him for many years and know he is way too good of a guy for this to happen to him.

As harmless as though it may seem to some, downloading porn is as easy as a single click on the wrong file and you're done. He downloaded more then 200 files via Limewire. What he didn't know was that he downloaded a bunch of under-age porn along with his usual persuasion (whatever that may be).

This past Wednesday his wife and his family were interrogated and later that evening the cops raided his home. This is no joke. They tossed the place and confiscated ALL of his electronic equipment including his PC, laptop, external hard drive, all his burned CDs and DVDs, cell phone, even his DVD player. He wasn't arrested but the DA is building a case against him.

Under age pornography of any kind is a felony in the United States. His lawyer told him he's looking at up to 16 months in a maximum security prison. A single photograph is all it takes. As some of you may know this kind of thing is severely frowned upon in prison. My friend has no other criminal history but will most likely see some jail time at the very least for this. If convicted, he will have to spend the rest of his life trying to live it down.

This can happen to anyone at anytime so be careful.

Wow, i have limewire, but luckely i only use it for music. That seems like it would be a great trap. trick someone into downloading child porn when they are trying to download regular porn and then notify the law. hmm... its sad really.

Well, deep down your friend could be different from what you know...its something you really never know. If he wanted porn so badly he should have just went to a freesite...theres tons of them out there. Sorry for your friend.

umm, another 2 reasons not to have limewire:

1) Filled with viruses and malware

2) watched by RIAA/MPAA

I have Limewire Pro and I havn't had any problems, never downloaded any porn on it but a friend of mine a few years back got fined $6,000 for bootleg songs downloaded on it so I just got the real version where they can't do anything and kept away from bad stuff.

Just don't be a retard on it and you'll be fine.

Exactly, you never know what a person is into or what they do...no matter how close they are.

Im sure he could explain that it was a mistake, but from what it sounds like it was numerous pictures this guy had. As I said, its easier just to look for websites then it is to download crap.

downloading porn is SO unnecessary. I'd link the numerous sites I may or may not get free porn from but that woulddefinitely get me sent back to Banlandia. Tell your friend to wise up... sucks to be him though

this is true. if you read alot of the court cases its mostly people who use limewire.
go the torrent route. (using utorrent or azuraus) its alot safer especially if you sign up for a private torrent site.

Ok I'm just saying that if it wasn't his fault, like something opened on accident what can he do? What if you were doing something and a pop-up for child pornography came up and you accidentally clicked on it and you got in trouble for that? How would that make you feel?

No I mean one of those BS pop-up and it says something else or show's and says something about Adult pictures and then he clicks on it, or by accident he clicks on it, and it goes to a Child Pornography site. That's what I mean, it's not very likely but it does happen you know.

I'm just saying in general that you can't blame someone for a mistake, I've clicked on and downloaded stuff by accident, not child porn but still.

All I'm saying is that you can't go around pointing fingers, personally I'd go after the person that posted it on Limewire or made the site.

You should just quit while you're behind; you're not really convincing anyone here that your friend is a victim. Plus what you're saying doesn't really help us consider you to be a wise decision maker either.:screwy:

i have limewire pro and have no problems...u used to d/l porn a long time ago, but there's no need anymore...i just d/l music...a lot of international techno...but if he got caught downloading child porn, then it's his fault...i can imagine his wifes suprise when she found out he was downloading porn to begin with
