I know I should be working on the Ferrari... but I just love VWs.:)
These were all done in Illustrator CS2 for t-shirt color separation. 3 colors on the bug, 4 on the bus and 5 on the fastback.
Enjoy.

It's not just VWA anymore, Ford is aggresively coming after anyone now
on trade dress infringement, not just trademark/copyright.
So if you sell images, or even similar-looking toons in my case, of any Ford
vehicle, you might get one of these from their lawyers:
In accordance with our Intellectual Property Rights Policy, Gregory D. Phillips on behalf of Ford Motor Company provided us with a notice stating that your use of Ford’s trademarks, or any confusingly similar variations thereof including its related and subsidiary entities, Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar and Mercury infringes upon their intellectual property rights (trademark/trade dress/copyright).
Watch out 'cuse it looks like they are watching for us.:disappoin

It's not so much that you can get busted for the car as it is the logo. VWoA went on a lawsuit frenzy back in the late 90's. They threatened to sew just about anyone that used VW logo for anything. They especially went after the aftermarket parts companies like EMPI and WCM for remanufacturing parts with their logo on them making millions in lawsuits. Made the value of vintage VW parts and the cars go through the roof.
I heard through the grapevine that Lemorris was having some "personal problems" at home. He hasn't done any work lately and has a lot of VW guys worried and pissed at the same time. From what I hear, he's behind on some work too. I hope he comes back before the VW show season starts. He does a lot of the shirts for VW events.

I "make" them in Illustrator. Each color and shape is a layer. It takes a long time but it's fun.
I haven't figured out how to do the color separations in Photoshop yet. This works just as well for silk screening.:)

Hey, Blip, the way I read it, it looks like Ford's leaving you free to do Mazdas. :grinyes:
It's a shame when we creative types, who just love doing cars, have to watch our backs for corporate lawyers. Anything for a buck with those guys.

Thanks, nicecar. I know, it's an addiction. I'm getting a lot of requests for VW artwork lately. Been drawing them for years, why not make a little cash doing it, right?!:)
