Just wondering how many others have this stupid configuration? I used to love to be able to use a scan tool that you buy from your local parts store to check engine codes, but because of this stupid configuration, I can't. That is unless I want to spend $1000s for a scan tool!
Furthmore, does anyone know why they did this????????????????????

Like I said the Actron 9145 will work along with some other basic scanners.

I bought a 9145 Actron scanner (new)from Amazon.com for $115 in June 07.
It,and alldatadiy.com helped me diagnose a faulty ecu (computer) in my 95 LeSabre ( with obd1 diags and obd2 connector.)
I guess incompetent people have to work somewhere. GM.. Ford... Chrysler...Walmart................
