I need some help really bad

ok i have a 98 vtec two door accord. i am having some prob with the engine. i start the car and it runs good. only in park. once i change gears the car starts to shake like its about to run out of gas. some one told me it was my fuel pump, that was going bad. so i just replaced the fuel pump with a new strainer. the car is still doing the same thing again. it still shakes like its about to die. can anyone help me with this prob.... thanks guys.

Sounds transmission related to me, but I'm no expert. You say it sounds like its running out of fuel? It's not just a strong vibration (i.e. the engine nearly dies)?
If it's a strong vibration that shakes the whole vehicle when you shift out of park, the accounts I've heard from others with similar symptoms frequently turn out to be a cracked or loose flexplate, but I've never experienced it myself. I suppose it could be a problem in the crank or cam position sensor and/or associated wiring, but would expect that to be a little more intermittent.
Is there any rattling or grinding sounds accompanied by the vibration that you notice?

Wow I wouldn't have jumped right to a fuel pump, they usually either work right or they don't work.
First thing is does it shake with a rythym, like a dead cylinder, or just a random shake that has no pattern?
Does it run OK once off idle? Or runs bad when moving too?
Check engine light on?
Until I have some better picture of the problem, I can't tell you anything.

No its more like a random shake. the car could be running fine. it just every once in a while it dies on me.. it feels like it is running out of gas or something. yeah it also runs bad once i am driving. if i try to accelrate fast it starts to shake and the die. funny thing is, that my check engine light does not come on. i really dont know what else it could be. let me know if you can help. thanks and have a great day
