I'm rebuilding my car vs buying a new one. Far cheaper route and better for the enviro plus the fun of the rebuild etc. :grinyes:

So now I'm onto my exhaust. I've looked at a number of local shops etc. I'm getting all kinds of decibel quotes on the noise levels but all fall silent on the OEM decibel level so I can use that as a base line measurement on the noise level.

I've already decided to go with OEM converter with custom mendrel bent pipes since the cat has holes in it. The muffler is where I'm stuck at. I'd like something with a slightly better flow rate but not with a massively loud noise comming out the back but with no way to gauge it with an actual install.

Any suggestions?

If you would be interested in a cat-back exhaust, there are many decible friendly options out there. Like the Greddy Evo 2 or the Tanabe concept-g exhaust.

I looked at those and the $$$ is cheaper w/the custom bends.

Just looking for muffler options now. Vibrant had one that really caught my attention but still uncertain.

I've got a Bomz Racing muffler on my 96 civic. It looks great and sounds great too. Most of them come with a silencer, so if you are wanting to roll on the more quiet side it's definitly doible.

I finally got my whole system replaced yesterday. It didn't do much on the top end but it deffinately opened up the bottom end. Less throttle to accelerate with traffic = more gas savings and is what I was looking for. It has a silencer on the end so outside the car it's not too noticeable, a little less quieter than a v6 Accord which is what I was wanting. Magnaflow system $424.37 w/tax installed.

Setback is the low-pitched drone inside the car. I can't hear my boy talking to me from the back seat so he starts to yell. I'm going to take some of the underbody road insulation spray, cover the exhaust when it's cold w/newspaper and spray the underbody to help insulate against the sound.
