So as many of you know I had planned on a budget rebuild to get my car up and running asap. But me and my buddies just this week planned a trip to Florida for spring break, which i had to pay out the ass for (plane, condo, putting money away for the fun stuff) so the car has kind of hit the back burner. At first I thought this really sucked the fat one, but after thinking about it I can now have the patience to wait till next summer when im working again to do all the mods that I dream about at night:naughty:(all new internals, big 16g turbo, ugraded fuel system, upgraded exhaust, redo the dryrotting interior:frown:). Once school ends it wont be bad at all making this car what it should be, making about 800 a week living at home with mom's food. This means I can drop about 600-700 into the car a week. Although it will be depressing seeing her sit in the garage all winter. I might just have to go out there every once in awhile to do the inexpensive but tedious tasks.

So last night me and another fellow DSMer pulled the engine in my car and started stripping down the engine. We came to find that there was a hole not only in piston 1 like the mechanic had said but a smaller one in piston 2. It was nice to see some progress tho. Yet, the mass amount of oil in the exhaust ports of those two pistons was very depressing. Plan on changing the rods and pistons some time in the next couple of weeks. Its getting taken in this weekend to get a .20 job and a planeing.

Ah its so refreshing to see the project start!!!

I took the valve cover off last night and the thing is just a joke. There are cracks everywhere that the previous owner had filled. I knew of one near where the wires exit the plug cover (or whatever that cheap plastic thing is called.) It seems that is something else I will have to purchase now.

I did find a company on Ebay that sells powdercoated valve covers for a decent price. Anyone ever used them? Good product?

Hopefully soon ill find my camera, I know I lost it in the garage, but it is such a mayhem out there I have a slim chance of finding anything. But as soon as I do I can throw up some pics of the engine pull, the interior clean, and the headlight restoration (came out much much nicer than expected.)

I dont know if anyone is following this thread, but I like it as a way to look back and see progress when Im all done.

I was just gonna say today may have been the worst day working on my car in history. Taking the starter out to replace it with a refurbished one that I had purchased for the last Talon and used for about a month. When that car took a crap I thought I might as well keep the starter around. The starter bolt was relativey stuck, but that wasnt where the problem was. I was cranking away on the bolt when the socket for the socket wrench cracked and flew off. This sent my had flying and scraping my knuckle off. After looking at the socket I realize it was one of the POS ones from a set I had bought for my brother at wal-mart for his birth. With him being a young 14 and liking to be at my side while working on the car I thought he would like it. Wellbeing so god damn pissed off I finished the job with some real sockets instead of tinfoil. And thought it wouldnt be a bad idea to head into urgent care. After soaking myhand in some stuff to clean the grease and grime out (which absolutly sucked because of the stinging) they had to give me seven stiches to re attach my knuckle and a finger cast to make sure I dont rip the stich out. AHHH:banghead:

And If you were wondering how the hell I typed this with basically one hand...

Elapsed typing time: 11min 56 sec. ouch

Ah does it feel good to be back...

Senior year is winding down, and pretty soon ill be working again. That means the project should be done in about two months. of course it wont be but what the hell. Missed ya guys haha. Glad to be back.

O and what brought me back was the purchase of the first part of the summer. A new, and clean, valve cover.
