Cleaning Throttle Body

I have an '02 2500HD with the 8.1L and it's time to clean the throttle body. Anyone have some basic instructions for doing this? I have a rough idea, but don't want to screw anything up.

It's pretty straight forward. I always remove the throttle body, disassemble it, and clean everything out good with throttlebody and intake cleaner. Last time I did it, I put the throttlebody into my small engine bore machine and bored out the inner lip inside the throttle body. Definately helped out, because I had to readjust my idle due to the extra air coming in. Back on topic, you might also want to remove the intake and give it a good cleaning. The Pcv system on these engines SUCKS!!! They should have installed a catch can from the factory with all the oil it sucks up into our intakes. After cleaning the throttlebody and intake, it will idle/run like a totally different truck.

The way he said is probably the best way to do it. However, I have never had a problem spraying it off while on the vehicle. Just start and run the engine after using about half of the can if you decide you need to use all of it. Use a soft nylon brush and some rags to clean the carbon out.
