Its a beautiful night tonight. Real nice out, temperature is about 74, 75, clear skies, and I'm bored. Its driving time. I went out not really looking for anything, just a nice cruise, stretch out Sophie's legs a bit, let her breath, ya know. Just to chill
However, the fates conspired against my relaxing drive.
It was a blue IS300, definitely an exhaust, and from the sounds of it, most likely an intake. Now, I'm well aware that not most, but a fair share of modded IS300s around here tend to be on the fast side. I live none to far from MVP who turns out some bad ass 2JZ cars, and another place where my bud with the IS gets all his work done called Dynosaur (cute). However, this was not one of those turned out by either shop.
He came flying up on me along with a 3rd Gen Eclipse GT that sounded just about stock. I couldn't help it. I needed to jump in, so I did, slipping in right between the IS and the 'Clipse, and we proceeded to move through traffic. Nicely at that. We ended up at the end of the highway (yes, the end of the highway) and turned off. I followed, and I could hear the IS revving at the light. However, a soccer mom Saabaru in front of us and an 18 wheeler to the right kept us from lining up. It was probably for the best, as we were turning.
Light goes green, we make the turn, and the IS and I leave the Eclipse back as we both jump out around the Saab and past the 18 wheeler.
He's out in front of me, I'm sitting in third at 30 (I should really be in second, but it doesn't bother me that much, I won't loose much ground at all), and I pull up next to him, expecting him to want to go from some honks or such. As soon as I pull even with him, he punches it, gets just about a nose, and then so do I.
Sitting in third when I hit it, I'm to far out of gear to immediately pull and whup on him. I lag off as he gets his rear door to my nose, I'm creeping up past thirty five, thirty five kicks out to forty and then...
BOOOOST!!!
I end his pull, and by fifty I'm already pulling past him. Run out third gear, not quite sure how fast I was when I went to forth, I was going on sound by now and only a quick glance showed me slipping past 6k on the tach. Drop into fourth perfect (hard not to, is just straight down), and pull clean and hard all the way through fourth. Decent shift up to fifth, stay on the gas for just a heart beat longer, lift at around 115. At this point, the IS is about five and half, maybe six cars back, I couldn't really tell, I was more focused on not hitting a light pole, and I still had plenty of pull in me.
I get on the brakes, down to more legal speeds (45mph zone), and he flies by me with a nice ricer fly by. His boy in the Eclipse finally rolls up next to me about five or six seconds later, and tries to stare me down all Dominic Torretto style. I just wave him on, he floors it, and hits the flashers. Ha.
I pull up next to both of them, try to wave, but they make a right and just speed off. Meh, I won. So now it starts...:evillol:
Cliffs Notes: Words strung together in coherent thought make sentences. If you are old enough to drive, you are old enough to read a slightly detailed kill story. If this is to much for you to read, then please, it is far to complicated for you to drive, or it is past your bed time. So read it, expand your mind, and enjoy.

wasn't it a mazdaspeed six?
nice kill.
if it is the speed 6 you should go race some EVOs and STIs, awd and turbo battle.

haha, the part with the ecplipse trying to stare you down is my favorite. I really hate those cars, they're starting to get like mustangs around here- cheap and plentiful.
Dropping the IS? kudos. Next car I get (or maybe the one i've got) will be FI. Not sure if i want a turbo or super though...

Do I miss Cassie? Yeah, I mean, it was really my first even remotely performing car, and I had some good times with her. I learned how to drive fast with her, and got started racing with her. Despite the Rav, I really consider Cassie as my first car.
But do I wish I still had her? Not at all. She was fun, good, but starting to get a bit to pricey, and getting to the point where she was gonna need some of the more extensive maitenance. She also was really at her peak performance potential when I gave her back to BMW. Before I got rid of her, I had a guy that worked at the dealership I was at at the time put on a different intake that I was lucky to get for cheap (but most people spend WAY to much for) with an ITG filter, higher flowing cats, and a pretty agressive tune for the ECU. I also had some suspension bits put on.
At that point, short of nitrous (which I was willing to go with) or forced induction (which is stupidly expensive for BMWs). The cost of continuing to mod Cassie was going to get pointlessly expensive for little gains, and to be honest, I was tired of how slow she was. I wanted something that performed better, had gobs more tunability and aftermarket support, and was in my price range. The Speed3 fit it well, and I also love the car. It drives well, it handles like a dream, it is comfortable inside, and it is amazingly well put together. Very solid.
But yeah, I still miss Cassie, but I don't want her back. Its not like the way I miss my dad's pre merger S600. I loved that car. It was built like a god damned M1A1 Abrahms, and it could scoot too. It was also the car my dad tought me all the cool police driving tricks he learned when he was a cop. You haven't lived till you pull off the perfect Rockford in a car the size of a small country.
And to continue on this honesty tic, I'm always looking for a new car, lol. Really. Its not that I'm not satisfied, no, quite the opposite. I'm just one of those guys that continuly prays to be as rich as Jay Leno, because I don't have one dream car...I have 50. I'm already looking ahead two years for when I get the company car to decided if I want to keep this, or go with a project I've always wanted to do and pick up an FD and fully rebuild the 13B, or do a 20B swap. Or I could keep the Speed3 and turn it into a serious track car. Or I could...Its in my nature, I'm always looking up.
And as for the screen name, its staying. As far as I'm concerned, I'll always be known on the forum as CassiesMan, and even if I don't still have Cassie, it stays.
