This is a 1978 Malibu model that had sat since about that production year in my buddies garage. When I met him back in 91 was when he first talked about building it. Well, about 8 months ago as I told him I was getting back into models. He gave it to me. Said he would never build it and figured it was better off with someone that would.

I am not a pro-modeler by any means. And I am just now getting back into the hobby. This was the first one I really spent time on the paint job with (had to repaint about 5 times to get it right, uggghh!). Also getting better at using BMF.

I did it OOB and just as the cover is. He said he thought it looked best like that. So out of respect to him, it went the way of the cover model. Although I left off the decals since they were trashed.

I never could get the header pipes to connect to the engine correctly. But after many tries, I got it close enough. There are a few things I am not happy with. And a few I am happy with (esp. the scoop on the hood that was a seperate piece, first time using modeling compound). Still a couple of minor paint touch ups needed. But for all purposes, its DONE!

Thanks for looking and any comments. Crits welcomed and encouraged!

PS My next model is a 68 Firebird. First time I will use flocking, wish me luck!!

That is one cool little car. You got a nice shine out of it, being the first time you used compound!

This was one of the first models I ever put together, when I was 8 years old in the 1980s. Now that I got back into models in the 2000s, I have often thought about redoing it properly.

Looks great!!! Nice job with the paint wheels and stance.

That's a great shine you got there, good looking model. Considering it's a tilt front-end, nice fit with the hood down too.

It turned out very nice! Red was good color to choose after the box cover, and the shine is excellent! Good job!
