I got Beat-up for the First Time.

Its a pretty simple story, basically I was at a friends house who I've known for quite a while and we are pretty comfortable with each other in a friendly kind of way, we don't sleep with each other sexually but we do sleep in the same bed together and "snuggle" or whatever, whenever i stay over to her house and its really no big deal, we've done it for years...
So anyways she apparently has (had) a new boyfriend like usual (she gets tired of guys quickly and only keeps the same one for a couple months at most) who i hadn't met and for some reason she gave him a key to her apartment.
So we're sleeping there and all i really know is that we were both asleep until i heard the door to the bedroom open and i immediately woke up with a 'WTF' look on my face and see a guy looking straight at me.
Then without warning he literally yells and charges at me while I'm laying almost naked in bed with a blanket on. He ran and jumped on me in a way that it trapped my left arm under the blanket kinda down by my torso so i was left trying to cover my face and punch with only one arm. He was definitely not an experienced fighter but with me being dazed from just waking up and also not being able to use one arm, he laid down quite a few hard punches on my face and neck.. I did manage to bloody his nose and I jabbed him in the eye pretty good, which was enough to send him to the floor and into a fetal position. I was not actually aiming to poke him in the eye but I'm still glad i did. He went to the hospital in an ambulance because apparently i cut his eye with my thumbnail. I haven't heard back about how hes doing, I personally don't even care. if anything this has made my and the girl (wont mention her name because i have friends who go on her sometimes haha) closer somehow and its strengthened our relationship.

And yeah ive been boxing and training in muay thai for years and even have a little juijutsu experience, and ive been hurt before, but this guy literally pounded on my face like a sledge hammer on a sidewalk liturally for about 15 seconds and man im lucky to not have a broken nose, jaw, orbital, missing teeth... everything is fine accept for 3 lacerations, both eyebrows and one near the top of my forehead. Ive never taken a beating like this in ten years..

cool story, good you're not hurt too badly. Tearing an eye is an extremely serious wound, your assailant may end up with impaired vision, color-blindness, or maybe even complete blindness in that eye.

If someone sucker-punched me while I'm half asleep and lying in bed under the covers he'd have at the very least a broken nose. I'm not a violent person - I've been martial arts training for a few decades now and I've never been in a situation where I wanted to use my training to hurt someone. But if someone jumped me while I'm still in bed...especially since you didn't have sex with her...I mean if you had sex with her and he's her boyfriend then maybe he's justified...but no sex means I'd kick his ass. Maybe you should introduce him to your friends - the ones who are having sex with her.

I was "snuggling" once and feared for my life.... I woke up at night in her bed to see eyes staring at me on the side my gf wasn't laying on, so I half sleepily reacted and punched them out of instinct.... Then she screams, "Shit! Did you just punch the cat or the pit bull?!"
