Wow, it's really good to see a 19 yr old interested in the presidential canidates. The election is still over a year away and it's important to remeber that no canidate that was declared the front runner this early has ever won.
If you're a conservative skip Guiliani, he doesn't stand a chance once he gets out of NYC. Check out Ron Paul: http://www.ronpaul2008.com/
If you can get past Obama and Hillary on the Dem side there is a lot more substance there than the Repubs have to offer. Bill Richardsons has the best credentials but is seen as a to much of a wonk. http://www.richardsonforpresident.com/home
So far my dream team is John edwards for president and Richardson for V.P. http://johnedwards.com/

I'm not a huge fan of any of the parties but I hear nothing but good stuff from Ron Paul. Someone told me that he might switch parties? I highly doubt that this is true. Top 5 canidates are...
1. Hillary Clinton
2. Barack Obama
3. Ron Paul
4. John Edwards
5. Jeb Bush (;))

Yeah, I can't get with the new hillary either. She just comes across like a caluclating bitch thats sold out to the machine since she went against the system and had her origional health care program beat into the ground.

I hear Ron Paul's name brought up in every presidential conversation but no one ever seems to know who he is other than the person who brought him up. He's created quite a buzz about him but he just doesn't have enough exposure I suppose.

I think she's a wolf in sheep's clothing. She's trying to appear as nonthreatening as she can in order to get the vote. God help us if she actually gets to live in the White House again, as prez this time around.

She'd be one hell of an improvement over the asshole in office right now.
I think the best Democratic candidates are John Edwards and Dennis Kucinich, but neither is looking like they have a chance at this point.
On the Republican side, the only ones I could deal with are Romney and Guliani, although I'm still holding out for Michael Bloomberg:ylsuper:

There's a whole fucking book written about her lie's and two faced ways. She lied and then lied again about something on saturday night live I believe or something along those lines. she is very fake about everything and we all know the reason why she didn't break-up with Bill...
She is a woman who is not to be trusted with any type of power.

What does lying have to do with anything? Name a politician who doesn't lie to further their own power hungry quest. Bush lied to our entire country, congress, etc... for a war that has killed a disgusting number of civilians, and he was re-elected. Although I guess that since he's a man, he should be trusted with power:rolleyes: If you believe everything that these candidates say, you're delusional.
Seems to me that most of the unfounded hatred directed towards Hillary Clinton simply has to do with the fact that she is a woman. It's true, this country simply isn't ready for a female president.

LEts see - Romney doesn't have a chance. Guiliani has a lot of support for some reason, but he's a two faced liar, not much better than Hildog. If you are impressed by his 'handling' of 9/11, go talk to some FDNY. His purpose in that crisis was to get as much facetime as possible.
Hildog scares me because she IS a cold calculating bitch. You should look into how she treated her aides and secret service and such. She has all these wonderful social programs with no way to pay for them. Her winning will put us on a one way ticket to economic doom, and then an extreme socialistic state.. which is what she wants.
MY best hope is for Ron Paul. He's not perfect, but hes a thousand fold better than any other of the major candidates. He says what he means and means what he says, and has a bulletproof voting record to prove as much. And his economic and political polices make SENSE.

And the current Republican administration has a wonderful war going on and no way to pay for it either, other than to take America deeper into debt. If we are going to go into debt I'd rather the money be spent to save lives than to continue the killing.
Impending economic doom sees to be the the strong suit of the Republicans as the economy and markets always do better under the Democrats. Damn, 7 years ago we had peace, prosperity, a balanced budget, world wide respect and an intact constitution.

Why are we in the business of being the World Police? Why are we so picky about who we're going to 'help'? Do you know how many Iraqi civilians have died since? No, Saddam didn't support terrorists. He hated them in fact, and had them killed whenever getting the chance. No, Saddamn didnt have WMDs...bit Kim Jong Il does, and he likes us even less than Saddam did. Yes, Iraq was the most secular middle eastern country before the invasion of 2003. The University of Baghdad was staffed by MANY women, who weren't forced to wear burkhas.
But we had to save them, at the expense of ourselves. Nicely done.

Going by polls, unless something drastic changes (like a major turnaround in Iraq or a major scandal) Clinton will probably win.
I'm not a fan of Clinton, not because of any specific policy of hers, but simply because I don't like the idea of two last names running the White House for 24-28 years. This isn't a monarchy or an oligarchy, I don't like where we are headed.
I like John McCain, again, not because of any specific policy, but because I like his reasoning and I think that if we had listened to him and pushed for many more troops in Iraq much earlier on, we wouldn't be in this situation. He is also far more open to the general media then any other candidate I've seen. As his record in congress shows, he is more capable of working with both parties then any other candidate.
I've noticed increasing interest in Ron Paul, but I still think he is nuts. Some liberals like him because he is an anti-war republican, but other then this he is pretty far off to the right wing.
I wish Obama would have waited to run in 2012. He is just too inexperienced in national politics at this point for me to vote for him.
I'm a fan of true moderate republicans, but I don't think we'll see their true colors until after the primaries where the pander to major party groups.

Going by polls, unless something drastic changes (like a major turnaround in Iraq or a major scandal) Clinton will probably win.
I'm not a fan of Clinton, not because of any specific policy of hers, but simply because I don't like the idea of two last names running the White House for 24-28 years. This isn't a monarchy or an oligarchy
Yeah, with the Bushs included that could be 36 years of just two familys and their political cronies in charge. A prime example of why we need to ovecome the military/industrial complex and get politics back to the grass roots level with election reform. Follow the money.
I like John McCain,
I really liked McCain until he shot himself in the foot by buddying up with the religous right wing. What a mistake that was.

Nonono, I included the Bushes... where did 36 years come from?
1988-1992: George H. W. Bush
1992-2000: Bill Clinton
2000-2008: George W. Bush
2008-2016: Potential Hillary Clinton term
I don't think it has anything to do with the so called "military/industrial" complex. It has more to do with simple name recognition and intra-party politics.

Yeah, right. And where does the "name recognition" come from? Name one thing that Hillary has done for our country that would make her name a household word and worthy of a run for the presidency. She knows what it takes to be president and sold out. Follow the money. http://www.followthemoney.org/

Obama: No Hand on Heart for National Anthem
http://newsbusters.org/files/user_pics/picture-40.jpg (http://newsbusters.org/user/40)
By Mark Finkelstein (http://newsbusters.org/bios/mark-finkelstein.html) | October 20, 2007 - 16:50 EThttp://newsbusters.org/static/2007/10/2007-10-01Time-Obama3.jpg
During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. -- United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171 (http://www.stpeteblue.com/Flagcode.htm)
Turns out that not wearing a flag lapel pin (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,299439,00.html) isn't the only way Barack Obama chooses to show he's a different kind of Democrat.
Have a look at the photo from the October 1, 2007 edition of "Time." It shows Obama, Hillary and Bill Richardson at the Steak Fry of Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) on September 17 in Indianola, IA during [according to the photo caption (http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,1662530_1446035,00.html)] the National Anthem. Richardson and Clinton have their hands on their heart. But not Obama. Does he perhaps believe that, like wearing the flag pin, the hand on the heart isn't "true patriotism"?
"Time" ran the photo without comment. I haven't seen coverage of this anywhere else in the MSM. Perhaps some enterprising reporter can ask the Illinois senator about his decision to spurn this American tradition.
Meanwhile, does Obama have some third act or omission planned to demonstrate that he's not falling for those corny, old-fashioned displays of patriotism?
I'm not sure what else goes with this story, but I'll look for something more. I find it interesting that a candidate for the highest office in the land can't be bothered (or doesn't understand the significance of it) with a simple display of patriotism.
To be fair, the guy behind him doesn't seem to be looking at the same flag the rest of them are.

All this talk about the stupid pin and his hand during the anthem is rediculous. While these are symbolic gestures (the hand more then the pin), they in no way indicate that he is or isn't patriotic. There is a difference between a symbol of patriotism, like the hand on the heart, and true patriotism, actually doing what is in the best interests of the country. This is no less then an attempt to smear Obama's generally good record. You should care more about what he has to say and what he actually does on the floor of congress then whether or not he wears a pin or has his hand in the right place during a song.
How many people have you seen not take their hat off or not have their hand on their heart during the national anthem at sporting events? Do you think that none of those people are patriots either?
I have little doubt in my mind that all of the candidates generally want what is in the best interest of the country, in both parties (as well as outside the two).

It could be an issue for a man who is running for the office of the President of the United States. In that position, he is not only the man in charge of the executive branch, he is also Commander in Chief of the armed forces. There is a lot of protocol and procedure that goes along with the position, and respect for the flag is part of that. Even hillary has a grip on that one.
Most people can't be bothered with a display of respect for the flag. It simply isn't "cool" or "fashionable". However, THEY aren't running for president.
Do I think it's a big deal? Not really, but it is an interesting observation. Perhaps military service makes some of us more observant of things like that.

I agree. Yeah, he seems to shoot himself in the foot at times. For what it is worth you can see that in his poll ratings versus Hillary. Latest issue about him is below. I don't think he'll be getting much support or votes from the pro-gun people, veterans groups, active duty military and now the gay rights groups. :grinno:
Obama under fire for gospel tour with anti-gay singer
Under the headline "Did Obama just lose the gay vote?", Todd Beeton at MyDD.com writes on what he calls the growing firestorm over Barack Obama's "Embrace the Change" gospel tour set to start Friday in South Carolina.
Singers on the tour include Donnie McClurkin, who has crusaded against homosexuality and who says he is a former homosexual. For information on his book Eternal Victim/Eternal Victor, in which he describes his "bout" with homosexuality, click here. For a conservative take on his views, click here.
In a statement on his website, Obama said he disagrees with McClurkin's views on homosexuality, but he did not cancel the appearance. Read the full statement here.
Among those asking Obama to cancel the event was Wayne Besen, executive director of the gay advocacy group Truth Wins Out. “Obama’s statement was inadequate and we are disappointed that he failed to sever ties with Donnie McClurkin," Besen said today on the group's website.

Yep, thats inexperience for you. He should have known to stay away from the religous right after McCain shot himself in the foot by sucking up to them. Heck if a mainstream republican like McCain gets knocked down in the polls for doing that you'd think Obama or his handlers would know better.
But maybe he is just trying to reach out to all Americans rather than playing the splinter groups off each other.

It's a tough call; you have to decide which of the special interest groups can do you the most good. And they're all going to want something from you in return if you happen to win with their support.
It's a shame that it has come to that, but that's politics.:dunno:

He also ran as a Libertarian in 1988, you know, that party that wants to outlaw the IRS and believes in foreign policy non-intervention, kinda like Herbert Hoover. Anyone who knows their US history knows how he turned out. We need a FDR, not a Hoover. Paul is 2008's Republican version of Howard Dean.

Ron Paul would be a much better President than any of the big name Republican twits that are running. Giuliani, Thompson, and Romney are all jackasses, as is Hillary though to be fair. The only candidates I actually would/could support are Barack Obama, Ron Paul, and Dennis Kucinich, who not coincidentally are the most honest candidates, IMO. Honesty is something that this country BADLY needs in leadership, as I don't think ANYBODY trusts the current administration, and if they do, they're something wrong with them. People are losing faith in our government to get anything positive done, and that needs to change in the next administration.

Does someone want to explain why so many people on the internet like Paul. He is somewhat of an internet hero, but hasn't seen a whole lot of success in the real world. Many equate him to Dean because of this.
I think people see him as a moderate republican because of his anti-war stance on Iraq, but he is far more complicated then that. On virtually every other issue he is very very far right. As a libertarian, he supports the abolition of the income tax and the federal reserve. He is one of the fiercest pro-life candidates out there. He is a very strict constructionist. He wants America out of the UN and NATO. He also wants to deregulate industry accross the board.
If you are a single issue voter depending on Iraq, then I might understand voting for him, but on that issue he is no different then many Democrats. If you like to take in all of his issues, then he shouldn't attract liberals because he is far right on every issue other then the war and will thus disagree with you on pretty much everything. He shouldn't attract pro-war Republicans simply because other candidates share his points of view on many issues except the war. This leaves anti-war Republicans, which I don't think makes up the majority of likely Republican primary voters.
At this stage, I feel like you are throwing away your vote in the Republican primary if you vote for anyone other then Giuliani, Romney, Thompson, and (my choice) McCain. As for Democrats, why bother so much with the Republican primary unless you are dissatisfied with the Democratic candidates?
My personal position on Paul is that he is a nutjob. Abolishing the income tax and the federal reserve? He would undo nearly all of America's economic success with such a feat. His isolationist tendancies scare me too. I feel that he wouldn't have intervened in Europe during World War II and that he wouldn't have helped Europe during the Cold War. We live in a globalized world, whether he likes it or not. What affects the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and the rest of the world affects us too. He would also have us leave two of the most important organizations we are members of, the UN and NATO. His policies would strip America of our economic and political power worldwide.

While defending Bush is stupid, the term is going to be over and arguing about an asction is pointless, I can say this for Hilary...what na idiot. I've heard stupid ideas and stupid things said, but for her to want to give to a family...$2000, maybe it was 5 for every child born.................
What, she thinks they're going to put that to good use? I see Las Vegas doing well during her election or Dept Stores. I also see our population jet line up and since that'll be a problem then maybe something will happen with tighter immigration laws.
Althogh there's another issue. Honestly, nothing will happen there. One HUGE reason is we depend on illegals in our market. Some idiot Rep sad he doesn't believe in a job no American will take. Noe the one reason but for some, it's the reason we have unemployment. Some idiots are too picky when they have no income.
Mitt Romey needs to walk off a brigde and I don't mean the right way. What a douche. Talk about properness and lies. I've never seen someone so blatant and untruthful besides me or in Team America when the guy says, "I promise I'll never die." Rep aren't looking good save Paul. Although if McCain ever stuck to his guns like the true Rep he was I'd vote for him. He's become wishy washy. Rudy is like a last ditch effort and a better VP to sit on the side and look pretty because of 9/11. Paul no to war = no to him.
Haven't check the Dem but their front runners are so annoying I hardly see a point in trying till there's a selected canidate then I'll choose.
Or I'll do what Lewis Black suggested and vote for Santa. Heck yeah!
Just so people know, I'm very pro war. Let's take over the world if they don't side with us. I'm very imperalistic and socialist which if you study, it's the economy we'll become, give it time. We are a captialistic/socialistic economy already. Aniwho, anything else, idk. I'm pro gay marriage, why not? No reason it shouldn't be. But I won't argue the point, just that I think they should be allowed. If not, oh well. Abortion is up to the courts whenever they define life. As of now there is none, but if you know something I don't show me. Immigration, well, we need them. Case close. Besides they'll find a way. And this whole internet rumor of Paul I think, to form a United North America. WTF!?! No, the whole point of using illegals is so we don't pay them much. Not so we have to dish out our tax dollars to help all of them, just those that make it. And Canada will never cooperate. I think we got along with Russia better in the Cold War.

Although if McCain ever stuck to his guns like the socialist he was I'd vote for him.
I think you misunderstand what a socialist is... McCain is virtually the opposite of a socialist and always has been. America headed towards socialism? Are you looking for another word? No major candidates, especially the Republicans, consider themselves socialists. Republicans are generally completely the opposite. Modern socialism tends to mean government ownership of certain industries and services, like oil is in Russia or Venezuela. It also means higher taxes to provide those services. Republicans are strongly against this and Democrats generally are except in some areas (some say they support socialized medicine). Just because Marx said the capitalist countries would become socialist doesn't mean it will happen. American government is moving away from ownership of industies, not towards. We have generally moved further and further away from socialism since FDR.
Americans generally feel that the government is inefficient when if comes to running businesses and that the private sector is the best option when it is available.

Hm I guess, but you tell my economics teacher that with...shoot, I forgot how many degrees and see what he says. It's not another wod and it's not just Marx.
Time for me to dig out some old notes if I can find them.
And there I changed it. No, he never said his affiliation was socialist obviously, it was views. Much like Rep that should be Dem because of views. Just because you have a party affiliation does not mean those are your full views. That's because there are only 2 parties that will ever do something until something dramactic happens.

Actually, Hoover wasn't a bad president at all... he took the heat of all the republicans before his time, very little of any of the economic downfall of the 1930s had anything to do w/ Hoover or his programs.
I support Ron Paul, purely due to the fact that, there is NOT a better candidate out there. Rudy, Hillary, Obama... none of these are people i'd like to see as figurehead of my country, especially not Hillary, but hey, what can i say?

Hoover tied with Nixon at #9 in the US News list of the worst presidents of all time. Harding was the only 20th century president to do worse. Most of the other "worst presdents" were associated with slavery and reconstruction.

You can dislike other candidates, but there must be some reason to like Paul other then that he isn't one of the others. What position or personality trait or experience does he have that the rest don't?

What the hell, let's just elect Hillary again.

I think the fact that governors are being forced into this position is really unfortunate. They should not be making immigration policy. The federal government should be making immigration policy and that’s what I’m going to try to do as president again and I do not believe that in the context of federal immigration reform that that would be an issue that governors would have to contend with.
