MSD ignition boxes

Was wondering... would one of those MSD ignition boxes work good for me? I know there's a lot of different kinds, but in general, what do they do and how do they work? I heard some have built in rev limiters? Or is that bull. Any input is greatly appreciated.

i dont know any details about how they work, but i have also heard about the "build in rev limiter" and i know the MSD setup puts more power out for alot more spark, i also know people that have ran them on honda's wil stock plugwires and melted the insolation (s/p) off of them... so i would recomend @least 8.5mm wires...

Ported Head & IM | 3-Angle Valve Job/PEP Valves | Crower Stage 2 Cams | Crane Springs/Tit. Retainers | OBX Adj. Cam Gears | 4-1 Tsudo Header | 2 1/2" DP | 2 1/2" Tsudo Catback | Bomz UDP | Prothan Mounts | MSD Coilpack & 8.5mm Wires | Iridium Plugs | CAI | 55mm TB | SAFC | Datalogger | Grounding Kit | Voltage Stabilizer | B&M Shifter | Drilled/Slotted Rotors | Front, Rear, Lower Strut Bars | Stage 2 Clutch

I WIN! lol. Sorry. I've been looking to go alittle bigger on those anyways. To like 10 or 11mm.

Are they just simple installs or we talking complicated? I have no problem with wiring, just seeing what I may be getting myself into.

Yes, it should help you. I am a tuning n00b, but there are two main things to play with when tuning... AFR's and iginition timing. SAFC covers you fuel wise and then the MSD will allow you to adjust ignition timing. How much extra power you could get I dont know, but I would think it would help.

For the money, I think they're the last upgrade that I'd go with. Your timing will stay the same, it will just give a much stronger spark. But I don't think you're to the point where you need a stronger spark yet, but maybe when you get that turbo.

My home boy put a mallory box on his modded camaro. Not sure what model it is or anything, but its the basically the same exact thing as the MSD equilavent, just alot cheaper. It made a noticeable difference. The one he has sparks 3 times instead of just one (thats what he told me). We tryed to wire it and it was a bitch...couldnt figure it out, so it didnt work. Then we bought a vehicle specific plug-in wiring harness, and it was so skeet skeet to put in. Nice product. Some body above said something about melting the plug wires, but we run this one on factory weenie plug wires.

So do we have a Points/Amplifier ignition or a magnetic pickup/crank trigger ignition?

Magnetic crank sensor.

So MSD ignition = no ignition timing? I am far too tired to interpret SBR's 6 pages of info on it.
