Security Chip

My Buick (95 parkavenue) was stolen and I lost the only key to start the car. I got the car back in good shape, but the locksmith couldn't get one of 15 security chips to work. I did put a new computer and motor in it about two years ago. Would the chip be the same number as the original? Is there a way to bypass the security and drive with a "drone" key? Thanks, JK

This might be your answer to bypassing the system:

The likely problem is with the lock cylinder contacts or VATS wiring harness in the steering column. The key resistor pellet is useless if the PCM circuit cannot make contact with it. Either may have been damaged in the theft. Testing the circuit continuity at the base of the steering column is the easiest way to diagnose that potential problem.
