Dome Light

I have a 95 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. On the back side of the dome light there is a small plastic piece that is attached to a circuit board sticking out of the cover. Does anyone know what this is for - it is driving me crazy not knowing what it is. The piece is about the size of a dime and about an inch and a half long.

Not sure by the description what it could be. Is it possible to get a picture of it and post a picture so we can see what you're talking about as that should give us a better idea.
