rear main seal

my rear main seal is leaking, so i was told. oil change guy said it was very common in chevrolets. anyone else had this problem? how much will it be to fix?

I would not trust an oil change guy on this. Once Gm went to a 1 piece rear seal, the number of rear main leaking went way down.

Could be the rear of the intake or something else. I would get a second opinion.

If it is the rear main seal.. prepare to fork up some $$$ they have to pull the engine out or remove the tranny.

I'm thinking he might be talking about the rear seal on the transfercase perhaps. Much more common.

hell, i don't know... but thanks guys. after six months, it leaked a half a quart, because it don't burn oil, and the guy said it was a half quart low. i'm a college student who is about to have to pay for getting his wisdom teeth cut out! i think i'll ignore it for as long as i can..
