Does a CD-player from a -02 venture fit a -98 venture plug and play????

No- the connectors and radio type are two different animals. The radio you want to install from an '02 has been in use since 2000. It has a single main connector, and also communicates on the class 2 data buss. The radio in the 1999 and prior vans had 2 seperate connectors and did not communicate on the class 2 data buss.
It would probably work if you reseached the electrical connections and did a lot of splicing, but it won't be plug and play.
