New to forum so please bear with me...Bought my daughter a 90 blazer..initially no problems other than water pump leak...over 200,000 miles on it. Began having problems with it cutting off when you put your foot on the brake (usually in a turn)..lost ALL lights and power. Lights were off a few seconds then came back on. You could restart no problem. Felt sluggish when you pushed on gas so hubby changed fuel filter (had trash in it) and check for short in wire..found bad ground on cd player. About 2 months ago CEL came on and went off a few times (previously owned a 96 Blazer so checked the usual~gas cap loose) Now we are having problems with it cutting off when idling. Timing has been checked and is good. Today she went to get gas and it cut off when she put in park. Would NOT restart..not even try. Has interior lights. Changed fuel filter again this weekend because it was like it was sputtering when idling but would stop when you reved motor. HELP!! What should we look at next? Alternator has been tested..new battery..thinking of replacing fuel pump..any ideas would be appreciated..don't want my 16 year old stranded somewhere!:banghead:

You might check to see if there's any trouble codes stored.
Jumper the 2 top right hand holes on the assembly line diagnostic link(ALDL)under the steering column-lower dash area then turn on the ignition switch and count the check engine light flashes. You'll get a single then double flash...1-2 or code 12 three times which means the computer is saying "Ok pal, I'm gonna tell ya any trouble codes stored". Any codes stored will flash 3 times. After all the codes stored are shown you'll get another set of code 12's which let's you know "that's all folks" unless you want to see again which it'll then just keep reporting the stored codes. When you get through, just cut the ignition switch off and pull your jumper wires. To reset the check engine light, disconnect either battery cable for 15 to 20 seconds.
Let us know what codes are stored and we'll discuss what's the problem.
