ive had my 99 sahara since new, and lucky im just now haveing my first major problem. My girlfriend and i drove to lunch and every thing was normal! got carry-out so no longer than 10 minuets later when we left. Except we didnt leave in the jeeper. I turned the key and nothing, radio, dash, nothing. We walked home, then came back with our battery pack starter and jumped the jeep. when i let go of the gas it shut off. we then re-jumped it and i drove it 2 miles home (without leting it idle and die). I knowtest that my battery gauge was all the way to the right in the red at 19. got home thankfully . I then turned the jeep off, but it still wont start. my first thought alternator? but id like some input from you experts. THANK YOU

your problem sounds like your not making good contact between the battery terminals and the battery ... when the engine idles the reason it probably shut off was because the alternator wasn't strong enough to keep the spark going to run the engine.... .basically check the battery terminals .... if corrodid then clean or replace if necessary then try it again if not then i'd go to advanced auto or somewhere like that and get the code reader hooked to it

Thanks for you response. I ended up taking it to auto zone a while ago and they tested my system for me. It ended up being my battery! i felt stupid but glad thats all i had to replace. I had bought the dead battery less than 5 months ago so i bought the best one at auto zone. again thanks for replying

Hopefully you got some money back on the old battery!
