AC / Heater blower Motor always on

The Regal is a 99. The blower is always on (Seems on High) no matter where the fan switch knob is set. This car has the dual temp. controls ... not the fancy automatic digital stuff. On --no matter car ignition is off or on.... Will kill the battery if you do not disconnect it.

Ideas??

Thanks in advance

Welcome to AF.

You have a bad blower motor resistor (BMR) . The hi-speed fan position 5 relay is located on it too which has a feed from the battery direct at all times regardless of the ignition switch.

Located behind the blower motor at the firewall. Just remove the 3 bolts holding blower motor and drop it down so you can access the BMR.

Cool! Thanks for the help!

After that I got 3 out of 4 of the electric windows to work on ... but those are #2 in priority.

OK here is where I am.... I am looking at the power wires and they go into another peice of plastic that appears to also be removable. ... meaning maybe I do not have to pull the motor to get tom the BMR? I got one screw out but seems to be loose but does not pull out. Still seems tight somewhere against the fire wall. Another screw?

Another idea... So is the BMR cooled by the blower fan?

If not could just leave the faulty one in there ...and just mount the new assy else where I think. Plenty of room.

Yes, the BMR is cooled by the fan and should be installed in the original location!

With the blower out of the way all you have to do is remove the closest screw from the blower motor resistor. Disconnect the plug in from the resistor and carefully slide the assembly towards you and it should pop down. There are a total of three screws that hold the resistor in but you should only have to remove the 1.

OK. I have already removed the one closest to the blower. 1 of The rear ones I have started to loosen ... but a bear to get to... so I will stop and remove the blower I guess.

Thanks!!
