Opinions please!

Just thinking about what to do w/ my Civic.. I've already decided that I'm going complete sleeper w/ it engine wise... more power than stock, but noone will notice, until they get stomped.

I'm also doing a CRX dash/console/most-of-the-interior swap... (it's a '88 Civic LX sedan, btw)

Most of the front end of the car will need to be replaced at some point... so I'm wondering if I should go w/ a JDM Si-R front end, or just do the work to put a EG front on it... I can do the work, w/ a few friends, but I've never seen anyone else do it... I'm currently leaning more toward the Si-R tho.

Any info would be useful, opinions too... prices especially.


EDIT: also, I'm thinking a "no" on this one (actually, screaming "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO" "IF YOU DO IT YOU'LL CALL YOURSELF A RICER AND A TWO PENCE WANNA-BE!!"... )

But, I'm wondering if I should go w/ black corner/head/tail/bumper lights all around... or just keep the stockers. it's a toss-up for me, really, b/c I like both. But if I keep stockers, I'm going w/ the 91 Tails.. the ones that have the reverse lights in a line over the brake lights...

If I don't do any of that, I'm going to make a set of 'vette lights for the car... since I can do it in a few hours and make it look right.

Please, thoughts, opinions, etc... anyone with input is welcome to post here... no matter what you have to say.. even if you wanna flame me for something I've said here.

oh god... if youre going for a "sleeper" look, leave the stock tails and keep it N/A.

well, I'm going turbo, already decided on that too... but, as far as the lights go, whatever I do will be all around.... like I said, still leaning toward the stockers tho, and getting the 90-91 white over red tails, but I'll be making them LED plates too.

turbo huh? so much for a sleeper... haha... i still say to leave the lights stock.

see, I can hide the turbo... so noone will know it's there. But I'm going to use a quiet stock exhaust, probably a '96 DSM muffler, since I happen to have one... it's designed to be quiet and still allow ample flow for a turbo app.

as far as body mods, not really looking to do much of anything, but I am shaving the moldings and door handles... just b/c I prefer not having them. (this point is also debatable, I'm not SURE that I'm doing it, it's just what I see in my head at the moment.)

What do you think about the Si-R v. EG front end?

good luck hiding a fmic even with paint and well the sound of a turbo is far to distinct. even with a sweet muffler. ive never see a car or much less heard a car that i couldnt tell had some forced induction.

well, if he wanted, he could get a SMIC.... but hiding the turbo is a diff question, the only route i could see possibly working is a remote mount turbo, but those arent that efficient and coupled with a SMIC (with also has a lot to be deisred) you might as well build a nice N/A motor

SiR front end for sure. The 5th gen front end is way too round for the boxy 4th gen body (IMO). And unless you're looking for the "riced" sleeper look (pretending your car is a "ricer mobile"), then just stick with the stock tail lights. But I do also kind of agree with the 2 above me on the sleeper thing. There's really no way to hide stuff and make it efficient. And if you're racing anything that has a respectable amount of power, a SMIC isn't going to cut it, and even a black IC isn't going to be enough to hide from people.

oh, I don't care if you can see it close up, it's just the dumbasses that aren't checking out what they're up against... the ones that *think* they're motor heads... have no idea what they're talking about, and believe their fire birds can beat any "rice" on the street... FMIC is the deal for me, I'll black it, and put screen in the bumper to hide it best I can, but fact is, I'm not trying to hide it from ppl who actually KNOW what it is, I just wanna hide it from the retards I can make money off at the track... and keep it looking mostly stock.

SIR fronts look sweet, but cost too damn much. if I were going to do one itd be on a crx only.

well trust me any one you race who actually races is well a mega tool or they know all to well what there lookin at and your gonna get owned for sure.

i say no to everything and just save the money..or buy another 4g with the money itd take you to do it. honestly why drop the money for lights on it?? or much less a jdm front clip..if you did anything id say jdm front over eg any day tho..

oh, that's right, you all can't tell who voted what in the CRX/Hatch/Sedan Poll... lmao.. I prefer Sedans.. I have a CRX shell in the barn, and though I could do the body work on it to get it fully "Honda" again... I don't plan on it, I'm using it for parts only.

So any money that I spend on this car will be "wisely invested" in my eyes.

So, the consensus so far seems to be Si-R front.. so what all do I need to do that? Just the bumper, hood, lights? or fenders too? am I even close?

EDIT: Picked up a set of '91 tails for it, the ones that have the reverse light above the brake lights... white over red. they were a total of $20. (And for those of you who don't know, they're stockers.) So the taillight issue is null... but y'all can still comment and flame.

Itll be hard as hell to get a jdm front for the 4door methinks. The SIR for the hatch or crx arent gonna fit.

passwordJDM has it for 699 + 200 shipping... and the hatch and CRX stuff *does* fit w/ mods... I've had to *fix* the car before, when I owned it the first time.. requires alot of drilling and fitting, but you can make it work, not that I'm going to spend $700+ to have to mod it to make it fit... nvr really saw the point in body kits for that reason.

Since I"m still not sure, do I need the fenders, or just a front end cut? and do I have to replace stuff behind the bumper *like rad bracket and bumper support*?

Anyone have any more ideas that I can use on my car? Any suggestions, questions, comments, anything, post here!

Don't care what it is, or what it costs, there's always the future, b/c we all know that if a project starts as a project, it dies as a project... never really truly gets finished... always changing something about it... so let's get some ideas here.
