Does Anyone Know If Their Is A Low Pressure Switch On A 2000 Chevy Venture, Ac Clutch Relay Working No Power To Clutchm, Can Bypass And Make Work.

Yep- but not a switch-it is a pressure transducer- tells ECM the system pressure to turn on/off fans and compressor - since your compressor is not coming on- you are probably very low on refrigerant and system is trying to save the compressor from running with no lubrication-- your V-5 compressor probably has a shaft seal leak- very common- the seal can be replaced if you can find someone to do it- otherwise after confirmation- a new compressor may be in order.........

I just purchased a 2001 LT Venture and the a/c compressor is not kicking on. Can you list all the items I could check and their locations before taking it to the shop. Any help from anyone would be appreciated. Thanks

shaft seal kit from dealer $45.00 , clutch tool $ 27.00 , have to pull out the cooling fans to get to the a/c compressor. i put a seal kit in mine and would be glad to walk you through it. let me know

I have a 2001 venture and the ac will only blow out lukewarm air. I bought refrigerant, with a gauge on it, and attached it to the hose. When i did, the guage read warning, that there was another problem besides refrigerant. I took it to a great mechanic. He kept it for a week. When i went back, he said that he replaced the low pressure sensor (which is what his machine told him was wrong with the van), and it still wouldn't work. So he put another computer on it, to see if it would be different, but it still wouldn't work. He put a hot wire in the fuse box under the hood, and bypassed it all, then the air came out cold and great. So he didn't know what to do. He didn't charge me anything, bc he told me he didn't fix it. So, I guess, my computer is not telling my compressor to kick on. I have no idea what to do. This is my family's main vehicle, and my wife's transportation to work. Please help. If you have any information, I would definitely appreciate it. Thank you.

cd621dd - you can bypass anything electrical (almost anything). I would always recommend doing it the right way. But desperate times call for deperate measures, ya know?

GLADWIN999's mechanic bypass his pressure sensor and it worked great, right? It doesn't sound as though he left it bypassed.

So GLADWIN999 ... you say you want information. What kind of information would you like? What are you going to be able to handle? Let's assume your mechanic really is a great mechanic and he looked at it for a whole week. He replaced the low pressure sensor and even tried another computer. He bypassed the entire circuit and ran a hot lead to the compressor and it does function.

Other possibilties are the HVAC module, the evaporator temperature sensor, or any of the wiring.

The wiring actually seems to be somewhat of a common problem. Especially the red/black wire that goes from the pressure sensor to the computer. You might try that first. See if there is continuity from the sensor to the computer on that wire and the other two, they all go back to the computer. Actually the grey one is a 5 volt reference wire and goes to other components. Make sure you have 5 volts on that wire.

'01 and '02 venture are known for condenser leaks- passenger side bottom corner- can see it from 6 ft away- by just opening hood-- Has your condenser ever been changed??

is the a/c relay good? what did the pressure gauge say the pressure was?
