TS13 clear over white - Yellowish?

Hello all:

Any experience with Tamiya TS13 clear over white paint? my concern is the possibility of clear becoming yellow after time.

I already did the search on the forums but couldn't find anything on this issue.

I can answer from experience.
Unfortunately, yes, it does yellow over time. Not as bad as enamel clear (it's yellow in the bottle, for heaven's sake), but it will yellow.
Try the 2 part clears from Hiroboy or Finisher's. Not as convenient as Tamiya's to use perhaps, but a far better product IMO.

I would tend to think the reason is that 'clear' is sometimes a bit of a misnomer in that the clear may actually have a bit of a [yellowish] tint. Compare enamel clears (probably more of an extreme case than Tamiya) in the bottle with a true auto clear, or the ones offered by Hiroboy or Finishers.

I've decanted TS 13 numerous times, it's clear, not even remotely yellowish, when decanted into a clear mixing cup. I have yet to experience any visible yellowing w/models cleared w/Tamiya. Testors enamel, absolutely. Some of my old unused jars look dark amber, when they were once clear. Keep Tamiya cleared models away from UV exposure and they shouldn't turn color.

I think I'll go for that clear coat.
I think that if I do not apply it so thick I'll be fine, and fortunately my cars are far from sunlight.

Ramon, Gunze have a UV clear IIRC. It is supposed to prevent yellowing over time. I cannot vouch for its efficiency though.

Na, it won't yellow. I've got a Peugeot 206 that I painted Tamiya pure white followed by TS-13 in 2001. It is still as pristine white as it was the day it was painted. Been kept indoors on a shelf for all that time as most models would.

Well, I guess I stand corrected. It seems the consensus is 'no it doesn't' vs my 'yes, it does'. I'm still not completely convinced, but cautiously change my answer to 'there's a chance it may'...
I don't know how or why, but I have two kits, a Tamiya MP4/4 and a Tameo Brabham BT55, built several years ago, that have yellowed after applying TS13. I'm wondering if, for whatever reason, I simply had some bad product? Anyway, the damage is done in my case, and I have not used TS13 for quite some time now. BTW, my collection is housed indoors, in a basement that is climate controlled (heater and humidifier during the winter, and A/C during the summer) and away from any direct sunlight.

Could it be possible...

1. In those cases of yellowing, that, is the white and not the clear what is yellowing? This come to my mind when I remember a Corvette I painted white (enamel) 17 years ago, NO clear coat, and it has yellowed a little.
2. Or may be Tamiya has improved the TS13 formula in the last years.
3. Both of the above…

I’m also using: TS26-Pure white and TS13-Clear, if this combination has worked fine through some years, now I feel pretty confident.
