Any ideas why the lights on a 1989 Firebird won't go up? They can't even be pulled up..It's like they are locked down...But, when the button is pushed, you can hear the motor and you can see it spinning? At first it was only one light, now it's both of them...
Thanks in Advance

I followed your link...but the first thing it says to do to fix the motor is to raise the headlights. But that's just it, they won't come up....You cannot even pull them up. It's like they are locked down...You can hear the motor come on when you push the on button but the lights stay down...

Sorry man I never read the post just knew it was there. I am not real sure how the headlights work on the firebirds but it sounds like if the motor is turning something might be binding up. Or the motor is the problem. There has to be another way to take the motor out without raising the lights. If the motor did stop and the light will not come up there has to be a way to release it so you could have lights. But I have never looked at the way they work.
Good luck man
also I just got off work so please forgive my lack of grammar...lol

To raise the headlights manually there is a knob on the top of the motor that you turn (takes lots of turns to get it) You may need to have someone gently pulling up on the headlight while you turn it. Once you get them up go here

Might unplug the headlight relay first before you go manually moving them up and down. take a phillips screwdriver and crank the round deal until it comes up.
