Fuel Pump Repacement?

I have no fuel pressure up by the fuel injectors. I replaced the fuel filter still have no pressure. Do I need to drop the gas tank to repace the fuel pump? Is there an easy way, since I just filled the tank yesterday?

well-you will want to get the gas out of it if you are going to change it. what i did was get the car jacked up and remove the filler hose from the tank-that will give you easy access to the fuel in it. from there you will need to siphon it out (i used a windshield washer pump hooked to a battery). get a new o-ring for the module! but before going too far i would check your power supply to the pump-in the end i had 12 volts bud not enough amperage (a little high tech for the average backyard mechanic) the terminals for the relay on mine were loose due to previous owner sticking a test light probe into the terminals and enlarging them-so i change the pump for nothing!

Welcome to AF km26.

WHat year is your grand am ???

Check the fuse and relays first!!!

Then depending on your cars year you could have a bad wire harness to the fuel pump.
I'd try this first then worry about getting to the pump replacement.

With a full tank isnt that hard if you cant get the fuel out.
Use a large board on a floor jack and use that to lower the tank once you loosen the tank straps and multiple fuel lines and vents.

Then you can syphone out the gas if needed.
I've done then and not drained the tank,
but it is nice to have it empty to clean out any crap that's fallen into the tank over the year(s).

Good Luck
