Rear main oil seal

on a 1988 chevy s10 2.8 liter 5 speed do you have to dismantle the moter to replace the rear main oil seal? or is it like older vehicles where you can take off the oil pan and get to it from there?

If a one piece seal you can remove transmission to replace.
If a 2 piece seal it is drop the oil pan to get to it.
