Crankwalk!

I know I've been gone for a while but listen to this...
My buddy needed a 2g tranny. I had a new one sitting in the garage for when mine shit out. My car has 156,000miles on it. Motor was never rebuilt, original tranny. So he purchased me a brand new ACT2100 in exchange for my used tranny so I can use my new clutch with my new tranny. So I figured I'd pull the tranny and motor at the same time being that I needed to do a lot of routine maintenance. The other night I finally got around to taking the old clutch assembly off of the motor. As I sat there looking at how burnt the flywheel was, I got curious. So I went up to the flywheel, grabbed it with both hands and pushed/pulled. I wanted to cry. All I could feel/hear was *tink tink tink tink* as the crank was moving back and forth a very good amount. I couldn't believe it. I never had ANY problems with this motor. No signs of crankwalk or anything. So now instead of me just doing a timing belt/waterpump job along with all new gaskets for the upper part of the motor, I have to do a complete bottom end job too. Luckily I have an extra bare block with approx. 30,xxx on it just sitting there waiting to get internals. So I'm going to build that one up...So as for those people who say "if you make it past the 50k mark you'll never get CW", think again. I figure if I can rebuild my new block to last another 156,xxx miles I'll be happy.

Anyway, what kind of main bearings should I go with? I called Slowboy and they recommended me ACL race series bearings. Anyone with any other input?

King makes good stuff as well and I have heard that the Clevites have gone down the tubes in recent years. I would just go ACL.

Some places still sell the old style Clevitte 77's. The new aluminum ones are shit. If you need a set I think I have a spare you can have for $20 + shipping..
