94 lhs tranny clunk??

When I come to a stop, it feels like the trans is lurching or clunking forward. Very strange. It shifts flawlessly on the road. once in awhile I get the "limp mode" condition but cycling the power on and off seems to get rid of that. I only have 88,000 miles on it but I am not the original owner. Car is near mint condition so I want to fix whatever the issue is. Thanks!
