focus lacks power

hi i have a 04 focus with the 2.0ztech with 60k...i change the oil evey 2500-3000k and recently got plugs and wires.
it seems like it has lots of power when it downshifts but from a stop its really slow...what do u think
also when i start it i hear a quick squeak..more when the motor is cold

Well the Zetec is not a particularly torquey engine, nothing much happens with the acceleration untill about 3500 rpm which would explain your sluggish off the line acceleration but good downshift power, if thats not the case check your plugs, wires and replace the O2 sensor. my car also had a quick sqeek when i cold started it, replaces the accesory belt and it was fixed.

yeah iv been told the autos are slow...my grandparents had a 5 speed...it was ballsy i would like that
