Hi, Sorry about the essay but if these get fixed car will be in tip top shape

I have a Ford Crown Victoria 1994 and im having three problems on my car hope you can help me with if not all three at least with one, it would be greatly appreciated:


1. I live in Miami Florida so cold weather is not a factor but when starting my vehicle it starts normal, but the battery light comes on (I just bought a brand new battery hrs ago), and when i switch the gear to drive or reverse it dies on me, to have it running I have to peel off (rev my engine up a few times and quickly switch gears while at the peak of one of the revs and floor it). Also if im at a long red light and i leave it idle my engine sounds like its struggling (needles on voltage meter jump up n down) to stay on and it will die on me and i would have to repeat the process above again (at red lights i put it on neutral and rev the engine every few seconds so this doesnt happen). I was wondering if these were signs of a bad alternator giving out. But a friend told me to check if the alternator is bad to simply turn the car on and disconnect the battery and my car stayed on. Is the problem more complex? Help please.


2.When im driving and I make turns it makes a loud clank sound at the very high point of the turn from like the middle of the front two wheels, I was wondering if this is a problem with the axle and if a simple alignment would do it? Or is it more complex?


3. And last but not least I have a problem that when Im driving at sorta fast (35+) speeds, it sounds like my engine is really tired and when i keep pressing the gas it makes a sound like it doesnt want to keep pushing, this doesnt happen all the time because i drive on the freeway at times but it does happen occasionally and I dont even have a clue as to what this could be.


Once again any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks for just taking the time to at least read this through.

1.) THe stalling issue - Sounds like it could be the IAC motor. Its like 50 bucks to replace. very easy job a plug and a couple of small bolts.

You can have the alt tested on the vehicle usually at any parts store for free. You want to make sure its putting out like 14 volts.. 14.5 is better but 14 will do it shows that its charging. Have them load test the new battery as well

2.) The clunk in the front end - could be ball joints and control arm bushings or one of the other.

3.) lack of performance - whens the last tune up - plugs, wires, fuel filter etc?

Thanks for the help ill get the IAC and replace sometime next week ill keep updated on progress.

About the ball joints and control arm bushing is this difficult to replace? How much do you think a mechaninc would charge for labor if i buy the parts? I just dont want to get robbed.

I gave a tune up for my car like 5 months ago (plugs, wires, air filter), but i left for 3 months out of the country so it hasnt been used that much.

ball joints are not hard but can be stubborn... the iac is super easy to do

The IAC on your car is located down behind the engine between the drivers side valve cover and the throttle body, It is hidden down in a hole.
