Dreaded ABS Light is ON!

What do I use to check codes when my ABS light is on? I have a standard reader and it comes up blank. I have a SuperChips Micro-Tuner...will that read it?
I'm thinking sensors because it doesn't come on when I start the engine but after I move 30-40' or so. Both sensors are fairly new and I had the ECBM and pump rebuilt a couple years ago.

Maybe it is the other two sensors you have not replaced. :)
You may need to take it to someone that has a more advanced reader to get the proper codes.

Does the ABS flash or stay on constaintly or both?

You need a ABS capable scanner to check or get ABS codes.

Autozone and other parts stores should be able to read it for you for free.

I went to an Advance Auto Parts and they told me they didn't have a scanner for ABS and if the light was on steady forget about it...blinking meant real trouble and to get it fixed.:runaround:

Two in the front and one in the rear...which I've never seen...where's the forth one?

Need to go to some local repair shops (or call) and ask if they can access the ABS system. May cost around $30-45 to get it scanned. At least you'll get codes and if you post them back maybe we can help. Also need to have them look at not only "active" codes but "history" codes too.

On my '98 Sub the rear wheel sensor is the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor).

For me, I'd want to know what was going on, blinking or not.

Autozones scanners can't read ABS codes. Their scanners are very basic peices of garbage. Go to a shop and get the active as well as the history codes like 777stickman said.
