Hi, I am new here. Right off I just want to say nice forums.
I have a 1995 Cutlass Supreme that does not seem to be shifting at the right times. It seems when I take off at a gentle pace the car wants to shift into second and then into third too soon. I notice it because the car struggles and I can hear the car shifting.
Also when I am slowing down and the car is down shifting it seem like it is having a hard time shifting down. Especially from second to first gear. From second to first the RPM's actually drop below idle and then once it does finally shift down to first the RPM's return back up to normal.
If I firmly get on the gas the car does not shift too soon. It seem to go through the gears just fine.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Welcome to AF.
I got your PM!
Could be nothing and normal what you feeling at lower rmps.
One problem these tranys hav is low trans fluid pressure so when you are at low rmps the pressure isnt high enough to shift smooth, at least thats what I think and is typical of these fwd tranys.
One thing if it has not had the trans filter and fluid changed might be a good time to change that.
It should be changed every 50,000 miles or so but most never get maintained untill problems occure.
Don't get it flushed !!!
Hope that helps!
