2000 Jetta - P0446

My mom has a 2000 Jetta and the check engine light comes on and goes off intermittently. She went to AutoZone and they pulled the code and it was P0446 - EVAP Emission Control System Vent Circuit Malf. Has anyone had this code pop up before or know what she might need to do/replace to get the CEL to keep from coming on?

Thanks!

Jeff

That could actually be a loose gas cap. Start there. Out side of that EVAP leaks are pretty hard to find. Just take it to a shop and let them do a smoke test, pin point then buy the parts and fix it yourself. Save the headache for something else.

has the car ever been hit in the passenger side rear? thats where the Leak detection pump and charcoal canister are on those cars.
