My 1991 (V6 3.1) Cavalier will start and run just fine...after driving it for a short time the car will act like it isn't getting gas. Pressing the gas pedal does nothing, and the car stalls out. At this point it will restart but not stay running. If you let it cool down it will start and run. We have changed the fuel control module, the fuel filter and the map sensor. Any ideas? I just bought this car, and have every penny I own sunk into it at this point.

Update.....
Thanks to someone here we changed the crankshaft sensor (there was a small crack in it) and the car ran better than ever. I let it sit about half an hour and it did the same thing, would turn over, start, but the minute you put your foot on the gas pedal, or put the car in gear it dies again. It seems each thing that is changed improves the running of the car, but it still does not want to stay running after it gets good and warm (it is not overheating). Any ideas where to look next?
Thanks

I have seen this problem with several 3.1s and 2.8s that turned out to be a bad ECM... Unfortunately, the ECM doesn't always tell on itself, I've changed 3 that turned out to be the problem, but would not tell on itself.

Will it start back up now after it dies or do you have to wait till it cools down ???
