86 silverado 3-speed tranny identification?

Hello. I'm new to this part od A.F.
I hang out in the Honda forums.
Anyways... My buddy has an 86 silverado and his transmission is shot and he's not sure about which kind it is. It's a 3-speed; that's all we know.
I've taken several pictures of it from all angles in hopes that I could find out exactly which tranny we need. I'm thinkin' it's the 350 turbo, but is there a short shaft and long shaft?
Is there a code somewhere on the tranny itself where I could look?
I would attatch the pics but I don't know how. If an experienced chevy transmission people could post their email address, I could email the pictures.
