Studio 27 Peugeot 908 LM 2007 Preview

Just got the newest Studio 27 kit of the Diesel powered Peugeot 908 that ran at Le Mans this year. I think that this is the fastest that I've ever seen a kit go from track to model - less than 4 months!
Excuse the photo background. My 4 year-old expropriated my table and made it into a fort. It's now covered in beach towels.
Anyway, on to the important stuff.
Overall contents of the kit:
http://www.brmodelers.com/images/temp/908/001.jpg
Most everything up to Studio 27's usual standards.
The body and chassis plate. S27's usual hard grey resin, but it seems to be much smoother than some of the other kits I've got from them (e.g., F40 & Viper):
http://www.brmodelers.com/images/temp/908/002.jpg
Body and chassis plate separated. The plate is a very thin casting, yet dead flat:
http://www.brmodelers.com/images/temp/908/003.jpg
One disapointment: The wheels are cast white metal. In prior kits they've done machined aluminum that were much more crisp. These aren't bad by any means, I just know that they've done better.
http://www.brmodelers.com/images/temp/908/004.jpg
Brakes and calipers cast as one part. Over all, white metal parts are well-cast:
http://www.brmodelers.com/images/temp/908/005.jpg
Small sheet of PE. I wish that they had included one of their cloth and PE seatbelt sets instead of the PE belts. Otherwise, good:
http://www.brmodelers.com/images/temp/908/006.jpg
Front wheel pods are distinct pieces. Very well cast with fine vent and inlet details cast in:
http://www.brmodelers.com/images/temp/908/007.jpg
Head on, with pods set in place. A small casting block on the bottom of each pod keeps it from sitting true. These, BTW, appear to be the only casting blocks on any of the parts.
http://www.brmodelers.com/images/temp/908/008.jpg
Decals. On the back set there's a note saying something to the effect of 'bonus for early production'. I've not opened the decals to see if there's any difference between the two sheets, but one is covered in wax paper and one is not. Always good to have spares.
http://www.brmodelers.com/images/temp/908/009.jpg
I've got a couple of other projects that I need to finish up before starting on this, but I'm pretty excited about it. I might actually have a kit finished sometime in the year that the actual 1:1 car debuted!

I'm looking forward to seeing this one built, even though I'm an Audi fan.

I liked seeing this on EBAY listed as the LM winner :screwy:
sorry but I don't think the Peugeot handled that Audi, the Audi just dominated like usual :icon16:

the No.7 car made 2nd place, No.8 retired after an engine failure shortly before the end of the race...
Awesome model, I already pre-ordered one can't wait to get it

Actually, it's the reverse: #8 finished 2nd overall and in class while #7 died in the 22nd hour. See http://www.mcestoril.pt/le-mans/equipas.php

Anyone up for building the all CF test car?
http://paddocktalk.com/news/html/modules/ew_filemanager/07images/lemans/peugeot/peugeot908-frontontrack.jpg
I'm wrestling with myself as to whether I should get one of these to go alongside my Audi collection.

Here's a question: What color is the black on the LM cars? Is it a semi-gloss paint, is it a metallic or is it bare CF? It has a very low sheen and in the pictures I've seen, even closer pics, I can't really make a determination. Anyone know?

Ouizel, from the up close photos I have seen, it honestly looks like bare C/F over the black areas.
Look carefully in this photo and you can barely make out the weave:

Here are some photos of it where you can see the CF on the body work http://www.gurneyflap.com/monzalmes07.html
Sorry if you already seen them.

Freakray, davesans, thanks for the links. They confirm it: CF. I guess I need to buy a few more sheets before I begin.
And Freakray, since most of the body is CF anyway, it's not such a stretch to the testcar, is it?

Just to let you and everyone know your kit had a spare set of decals because of a special promotion Studio 27 did. If they were pre-ordered by dealers before a certain date they included a second set of decals free. They have done they with a bunch of their new releases in cluding the new Honda F1 car with the globe on the car.
I just want everyone to know not to expect a second set in every kit!!

Very nice kit.
This is for me beside the Bentley Speed 8 and Aston Martin DBR the nicest Le Mans car of the last years.
I play with the thought, to buy him. It would be my first resine-kit.

Hey Kevin, any chance that preorders could get a second kit for free?
This one's high on my build list. Like probably next to be built. I havent seen such a nice resin casting - like an injection molded kit. The panel lines are straight and narrow - not trenches like on so many resin kits. This one is my first ST27 kit.

I wish though S27 would make the newer Lola chassis, or Porsche RS Spyder, the Creation would also be a cool car to make
I was also hoping S27 or someone else would've made the Racing For Holland Soccer Ball Livery from 06, that was one of the coolest liveries
