Again, not much to say; possibly the Best Ferrari Road Car ever.
Presenting, the Ferrari 250 SWB.
The immediate precursor to the racing 250GTO, the SWB uses the same chassis set up in pretty much the same way. Stick a Colombo engine in it with 6 Webers and it IS the GTO in a much sexier body.
A3 smooth paper that I had laying around in an old portfolio.
Technical Pencil probably with F or H lead in it @0.5mm
Start: rough sketch to get the proportions and car on the page correctly.
It also didn't stand up properly as I took the photo of the page; hence the really bad distortion.
(at least that's my excuse)
It's not 100% correct but I'll fix that on the fly as I block in the shades.

Because this is just a pencil drawing, I can update this one daily.
I don't need to set up a special area like to do with the paints.

This one, yes.
The original is a silver car and the pencil carbon lends itself to silver much better and cleaner than I can with colours. If I start in colours, I'd spend way too long trying to match colours....
and I need something not red to give my eyes a break.
I might have to go over the pencil with some colour in the end after all because of the green background, especially because the car is moving. Will probably resort to my illustration tricks.

Quick series of three, taken at 10 minute intervals.
I have a bit of a short attention span and I find that it helps to not look at the thing I'm working on for too long.
fixed a few things but still a few bist and pieces slightly off angle and incorrectly proportioned.

tweaked a bit more.
Front wheel still needs to be nudged.
body is still twisted

fixed the twist in the body
wheel to be done but then again, the black of the shadow/wheel arch/tyre will hide that bit really as long as the wire wheel is correct.

this one is coming along rather nicely as well. interesting technique you have to start shading without having a full outline of the car. always nice to see new ways of drawing.
this will look great once finished

Been in the office in a rush to issue drawings for planning so no drawing today.
Looks like I've got another long day tomorrow as I'm supervising a newbie in the office.....
As for my "technique".
All I have to say is.... "dunno".
It's how I've always done things.... I think.
If I was to speculate, it might have something to do with my painting history becauase that's how I paint as well: loose shapes then fix and fill as I go along.
It'd drive me crazy if I had to measure everything out. I mean, I do enough measuring at work as it is.

Minor Update:
Nearly Done.
Still have a little backlog or real world work to finish but I've got tomorrow off so I'll get this one done by then.

No idea how i'm going to do the background though.
The shot is of the car in motion and the background gives that context.
Bugger.

Great progress and waiting to see how you do bring
the background to life to show the motion effects.
