Quick Tire Question

Hey guys,
Have a quick tire question, I'm going to be replacing my stock 245/75-16s with 265/75-16s All Terrains, and I was just wondering what affect, if any, this will have on my odometer or speedometer? Also I have my torsion bars cranked 4 turns so there shouldn't be any rubbing issues correct? As you can tell I never really mess with tire sizes so any help on this subject would be great.
Thanks
Danny-

I changed from 255/70/16s to 265/75/16 ATs and I calculated that my speedo/odometer is off by 1%. There are a couple of websites out there that will do the calculation for you. Can't remember them off the top of my head, try doing a search.

You should be able to fit the new tires without cranking the T-bars with no rubbing.

no, it wont throw off your odometer or speedo, first set of numbers is width of tire, second is the profile, how big the sidewall is, this is the number that will throw off your final ratio and instruments, last number is size of rim.

Are you keeping stock rims just going a little fatter?

Yes I'm keeping the stock rims, just decided to go a little fatter and fill the wheel well up a little bit more, thanks for the quick responses guys.

Yep. That tire will look nice on the rims, will pooch out a little bit, but i think that looks good, and it will help protect your rim from any curb scratches :)

Yah, I'm thinking they should look pretty good on there myself should give it a little better look as well...also I found a tire size calculator online just in case anyone wanted to check it out. Heres the link

That slight change in tire size will change your speedo/odo, but not enough to worry about. I still need to get mine changed but going from a 33" (programmed for the larger than stock tire) to a 35. I have seen a drastic change.

The upgrade from a 245 to a 265 actually corrected my speedo. It was a little off from the factory. Speedos in new cars can read as much as 3% too fast. Manufacturers do this to keep from getting sued by people who get speeding tickets.

The profile or aspect ratio is a percentage of the tread with, so staying with the same profile and increasing the width will increase overall diameter and so the speedo will be out.
