The last one shows its current state. Needs a lot more filling and sanding as you can see on the roof. Had to primer to better see what still needs doing.

As far as mods go, so far the roof has been moved back, side skirts molded from putty, new front spoiler (will post pics when I get round to taking some), wings widened and a new rear.
Gonna build this as a support/team car for the Veilside S14 race car I am working on.

Still trying to get over my initial reaction of "He did what to a skyline?!? "

Other than that I have to say you are doing a nice job with the conversion.

Coming along very nicely indeed! What will you be doing to the roof, sanding flush or continuing the lines?

Gonna try to follow the lines, I think that would be more realistic. If I cant get it right, then the other option as a last resort!

In reply to Jarod Li, I went into a bit of shock and got the shakes thinking 'what the hell have I done??!!' as soon as the roof came off but I always thought the skyline would look pretty good as an estate.

I believe Nissan built Skyline wagons up until the R30 or R31...not entirely sure...

R34 Wagon would own me :D

wow. dude, that looks awesome so far! get us a few more pics of it's current state, i'm anxious to see what the new front wing looks like! what kit are you using for your Veilside race S14? you do know they never entered a race car in a series, right? of course, they never made an R32 wagon, so i can eat my hat right about now. :D if i had any putty skills at all, i would try to make the C-West one in your signature...

Just a tip for when you are doing the roof lines, try putting layers of strips of masking tape along the roof where you want the higher section to start, when you get the masking tape up high enough, fill it and when you remove the masking tape, you should be left with a line that needs barely any sanding.

Looks good.

Have you just cut off the trunk and seperated the roof, then just extended the roof in the gap?

Thanks for the info GTi-VR6-A3, had a look around and found this:-

Stagea (http://www.hlj.com/cgi-local/hljpage.cgi?FUJ18681)

Not sure what it was based on?

I will use the pics as a ref to try to make the roof rails though.

Here's a cfew more shots to keep you folks going:-

The next couple are pretty bad pics but hopefully show where I followed the original door lines and removed the filler from the door panels that can be seen in the first lot. Also shows how much wider the wings and skirts are.

Still needs much more work on the roof and the front spoiler needs to be a bit more agressive I think.
Will keep you folks posted as it progresses a bit more next week.

what kit are you using for your Veilside race S14? you do know they never entered a race car in a series, right?

Didn't think there was one, so decided that it might be fun to build my own racing team type collection. Already have a big car transporter unbuilt in the cupboard and am getting there slowly with the R32.

The S14 is the Fujimi Veilside kit Combat (http://www.hlj.com/cgi-local/hljpage.cgi?FUJ18602), that is getting a full race interior, am currently chopping up tubs from calibra, R33, Exiv and a few others and will hopefully be a bit like the S15? in my sig.

Will probably build 2 x S14's, 2 x Skylines and 2 x RX7s, all raceprepped Veilsides with matching Livery (gonna need 6 SAS WINGS and 6 sets of identical decals (SAS?) somehow.

I will use the pics as a ref to try to make the roof rails though. The Stagea was a separate model from the Skyline; it's Nissan's full-size estate wagon. The clincher is that it used an RB-block engine, so someone, Autech IIRC, shoved the GT-R's RB26DETT into one... Sort of making a Stagea GT-R, I guess. That's the one that was in GT2. It was a real car, but I don't think there were more than a handful made.

it was to my best knowledge that the Stagea and Skyline R34 shared the same platform...although i'm not 100% sure of this...i do love the Stagea though!

and will hopefully be a bit like the S15? in my sig.

btw, the one in your sig is an S14 Kouki, like the car in your Veilside kit.

Stagea = 4dr Skyline Wagon. I assume Nissan Simply gave them another name for marketing purposes.
Both Autech and Nismo made versions useing the GTR running gear.

But certianly the coupe was never turned into a wagon and UKSupraboy what you have created is something quite unique, and IMO very VERY cool!

Thanks for all the comments and tips guys. One Question for you all.

If you look at the last but one pic that I posted, through the rear window you will see the gap between the body and the wheel 'tub?' on the chassis.

Any ideas how to go around fixing this? Will it maybe be better to build the rear interior as part of the shell rather than the chassis? This is my next job and it has been puzzling me since I first started.

Any ideas or experience would be appreciated.

Richie.

Any ideas or experience would be appreciated.Where does the back of the rear seats end up? Many wagons, including the WRX wagon I'm building, have a 'shade' that pulls out from the top edge of the back seat to the bottom of the rear hatch's window. It's really convenient for modeling purposes... ;)

its looking good. i looked around and i dont know if it uses the same body but it does use the gtr engine so it might be based off the same car. cant wait to see it finished.

Hi UKsupraboy, i m thinking of doing a similar fender widening modification to my Tamiya Testarossa. Is there any tips on doing this, ie how to keep both sides symmetrical etc? Thanks.

Cheers.

The layers of masking tape trick also helps when you want to cut a straight line. Just put the layers along where the line should be, and cut with a knife or something.
