Pontiac 2006 Grand Prix Seat Change

Hey Guys.
I own a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix Sedan with 51,000 miles on it. Recently the back seats were ruined due to a combinantion of horrifying events...nonetheless I purchased replacements seats on eBay. They are for all four seats from a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. My original seats were the ebony black cloth. The new seats are leather, and have the same features (power-wise) as mine, except that they are heated. Okay, so now for the questions.
1.) How hard is it going to be to swap out the seats? I'm pretty sure the front bucket seats will be easy as I think I just have to unbolt them from the floor. The back seats have me worried though. I have no idea where to begin, and those are the seats that I really need to have replaced.
2.) Since the front seats are heated, is there anyway to rig them to where the heated part will work? I've seen the climate control units that are the same as mine but have the heated-seat buttons. If I purchased one of those what are the chances of getting the heated seats to work?

The seats are coming in on Monday (10/8) and I still have no idea what to do...I've looked at the rear seats and I still have NO idea how to get them out... I really don't want to have to pay to have them installed either...since they were already expensive! Thanks in advance for your help!

On the bottom rear seat cushion look for pull straps where the bottom of the seat and carpet meets. With a finger feel for the strap releases. Pull on the straps and the bottom cushion should come out. On the rear back cushion there should be bolts located on the left and right hand sides.

I found the straps. I tried pulling on them but I couldn't get them to come off...how hard do I need to pull on them??? I feel like I'm going to break them! Do I need to take the back of the rear seats out first?

You pull the straps, of course only one at a time, and then pull up on the seat cushion. The bottom of the rear seat cushion has a latch (two) that inserts into plastic retainers located in the floor board. Pulling the strap relieves tension on that plastic retainer. Once you get any side of the seat cushion up you will see what I am referring to.

So I got the seats in and got them installed...they look great! But, now I have a new problem and I'm not sure what to do about it. The seats I bought were from an '05. The old passenger seat (the original one) had an airbag sensor underneath. The new passenger seat I put in does not; my airbag light is now on and the passenger seat airbag illuminator above the radio is not working. Is there a way where I can unbolt the unit from the old seat? Or is there a way to fix it? Thanks!

I guess I'm going to try modding the old seat into the new leather one...I just hope it won't mess up the calibration too badly on the module underneath the seat...I will also be taking the seat belt buckler things off the old seats and putting them on the new ones...I'll post pictures when I'm done...or if it goes badly...I'll post something :)

The seat change is FINALLY complete, and it looks GREAT!
The back seat required no modifications...I just took the old seats out and put the new ones in. The front bucket seats were a different story.
Since the 2006 Grand Prix's have occupant sensors in the seats, the 2005 seats I put in threw a hissy fit and caused the airbag light to illuminate on the IC and the Passenger Airbag/Safety Belt Display to quit working (the display above the radio and below the 5-button DIC. For the passenger seat, I removed the occupant sensor. This required taking the bottom part of the seat completely apart. To get the sensor, I had to remove the pad that was velcroed to the foam portion of the seat. To install the sensor, I had to take the bottom leather cover off of the seat, remove the heated seat pad that was velcroed to the seat, and installed the sensor pad. I also replaced the seat belt buckle. I hooked all the wires up (except for the remaining heated portion) and installed the seat. The Passenger Airbag/Safety Belt Display was now working, but my airbag light was still on...so this is where the fun began...
Apparently, there is some wiring difference between the 05 driver seat and the 06 driver seat (besides the heated seats). I unplugged all of the heated seat wires...thinking that it was the possible cause of the AirBag light...but to no avail, it was still on. What to do? I took the leather seat covers off of driver side seat and replaced the cloth covers with them on my old seats. I removed all of the black plastic and installed the dark grey plastic to match everything. After that LONG process, I installed the driver's side power seat back in my car....and guess what...IT WORKED!!! So now, I have leather seats and no dumbie lights on! YAY!!!
I'll post pictures the next time I go to my car...I was wore out yesterday after all of that...and...if anyone needs more detailed instructions, feel free to contact me!
