97 3.4L Need help with Temp Switch, Sensor & burnt wire

After hours of scouring this forum, I thought it best just to post as I am not finding what I need.
The engine of my 97 3.4L keeps getting warm. Not hot, not overheating, just warmer than normal. I've seen posts saying the fans only engage at 225 but only recently has the temp gotten over 190/195. The getting warmer issue happens during stop & go traffic or while idling at a long light, of course. The van has never overheated, radiator has been flushed and filled, thermostat is new and appears to work normally. Also, when it gets above 210, the A/C won't blow cold until temp is back down.
In addition, we keep getting a burnt wire to the driver side fan. Not blowing a fuse, just burning a wire. Fan motor tests fine. Any ideas?
Not sure about the wire issue, but wondering if the 'getting warmer than normal' could be caused by a faulty temperature sensor or faulty temperature switch/sender. If so, where do I locate these? My ridiculously inept Haynes manual does not show location.
Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated. We've been dealing with this issue about a month now, and I am getting so stressed having to stare at the temp guage.

If you have the same HAYNES book as I do you will find the sensor picture in Chapter 6 Emissions and Engine Control (check pg 6-13 pic# 8.2). It is located just above the Thermstat. The rest of your problems sound haunting simular to everyone elses. HEAD GASKET
