I am looking to purchase a 2000 Ford Taurus, with transmission problems, has no first or reverse gear. So the transmission needs to be replaced or overhauled . Along with a full tune-up. How common are these transmission for the 3.0ffv? Or is this a rare transmission where it would be better to rebuild it? Does anyone know what model transmissions work in the 2000 and might have one for sale?
Also does anyone know the removal procedure for this transmission, 2000 Ford Taurus 3.0 ffv, Could this be a devoted weekend project? Wisconsin here if good working transmission for this particular car you could sell. [email protected] e-mail

The transmission is probally 2000 only, check with an auto salvage yard that has a hollander interchange book.Ford transmissions are only one year only for interchange. You might want to look into a Jasper reman too,it has a 3 year,100,000 mile warranty. If you go with a Jasper, you can take it to any Jasper dealer for warranty work and they pay the labor for warranty work. Here is a website: www.car-part.com This a website full of wrecking yards you can look up used parts. An used transmission usaully does not have much of a warranty. You do not want to do this, you do need a jig to hold the engine up,only thing that is holding the engine up are the wiring and the hoses and the crossover pipe has to come out.
