hello,

I have a 88 civic hatch dx and am planning to swap either a b18a from a 90-93 integra or a b18b from a 94-00. My question is what is the difference between the engine and which would be easier to swap in. Also, I am planning to get the place racing mounts, with these mounts, will the engine fit in the bay without any cutting or welding. Any help would be apreciated.

Okay first off, the b18a from the 90-91 model teg has 130 hp and the 92-93 had 140 like the b18b from 94-01. Now i also have a fourth gen and first thing you will have to do is change over from Dual Point Fuel Injection to Multi Point Fuel Injection, check out www.4thgenerationcivic.com for that info in the HOW-TO section. After you get the mounts, another problem lies ahead, the tranny, you will have to use a Cable tranny UNLESS you have madd $$ and can do a Cable to Hydro tranny conversion. The 90-93 tegs have cable and 94-01 have Hydro. So you can use a 90-93 tranny and a 94-01 engine, but it's best and probably cheaper to get it from the same car, so get the engine from a 92 or 93 teg cause it has 140 hp...... Now you will also have to get shift linkage because out linkage is too long, so you can get it from HaSport or get the teg linkage and shorten it about two inches and weld it back together. Personally for like another 300 or so you can get a b16a with a cable tranny, and if your inluck, it might have LSD.... Hope this helps!!
