Do you like your job?

Who here likes their job. Like actually gets up and says "man I really like what I do" Im asking because I want to know if you all think its more important to really like your job, or to have a job with benefits. I work at publix (big supermarket chain in southeast) that offers really good benefits and decent pay, but I hate the job. Im full time in school and about 30-35 hours at work and feel like quitting work. I like school, but I just want a job that is at least more enjoyable and doesnt wear me out. Should I go elsewhere?

pubix wears you out? like just ebcause all the people there are old. dont develop al time ers. i cant spell that word. pubix is sweet, cuz things are cheap, and they make you special cakes. its kinda like roundy's/pick and save/copp's here in the midwest.

im currently in a locally owned fast food chinese resturant chain. it sucks. i dont ever wake up and after class say, i want to go to work. i just dont like what i do, feeding the very overweight to become more overweight. go figure. its not hard either but hey. its a damn job. cant wait to start at quiznos in the suburbs next week, at least i'll not have to worry about it too much.

I work for Goody's (clothing store) and it's easy, but not the most exciting thing. I cant complain because it beats Burger King by far (where i worked previously).

i think it's safe to say that you're not going to like any job you're doing while you're studying simply because of the time pressures involved. Most jobs you do whilst studying are a neccessity to living and not really the thing you want to be doing.
Come back after you graduate and working properly before asking this question.

Once you're done studying though, that is a different matter and whether or not your enjoy it would be done to your personality and whether or not you chose your subjects (and hence profession) honestly with regards to what you enjoy doing.
My sister qualified in marketing and advertising. She's not brilliant at it as she well, lacks a certain creative flair. She currently works as a lending officer in a private swiss bank (i.e nothing realted to her qualifications). She's the kind of person who enjoys work for the achievement of getting things done and the occassional saying "no, we don't want your business" to celebrities.....
You can give her any job and while she might not like the job, she would still go and do her best at it and enjoy the process of excelling at it.

I am an architect's assistant in a small office that's been running for about 6 years now. I've been there for 2 and am more or less running the design studio (albeit in a small office, there isn't much design to do and there is a certain amount of autonomy anyway). I am only scheduled to go in 2 days a week and I get paid.... enough....

There's the old thing that is said (but not a saying) that the things you will excell in will be the things that you enjoy.

I agree. College jobs will always cut into time you could either be studying or partying.

I recently graduated and started working as an international buyer/ planner for a medical supply company. The industry doesn't interest me that much but I like what I do and it fits my personality. My job depends on my ability to track and piece together the constantly shifting pieces of inventory and buying just enough of what we need before we need it.

My advice to you is to keep your well paying job. It may not be glamorous but when you're in school the numbers on the paycheck are what usually end up being most important. I would've killed to get a job at Publix when I was in school, but instead I managed to pick up a spot at Movie Gallery working for peanuts... and free rentals.

Full time student/part-time air freight coordinator.

How do I feel about my job at the moment?

Meh.

I learn a bit, and the pay is great, but it's no career.

It's OK. I don't hate it all the time, which is more than I can say for previous jobs. But I don't enjoy it as much as some previous jobs either. At least the money is OK.

I hate my current one. That's why I'm quitting it tomorrow. The only job I've ever truly hated so much that I'm just going to quit and not come back.

I work at U-Haul. worst job ever. I put in my 2 weeks 1 week ago... I find no motivation to finish my last week. Of all the jobs i've had, it is the lowest paying yet most stressful of all. DO NOT EVER WORK AT U-HAUL!

I like my job at Best Buy, I would not have traded it for anything. I got asked to be on the project crew there traveling from state to state to help set up other Best Buys. Then one day my roomate got me fired at no fault of my own. Since then I have to do hard manual labor at a landscaping company in order to get decient pay (but still not close to what I would have been making plus I hate it).

I miss working in a decent studio, I'm stuck at a stupid dept store studio. I hate it! I'm on call all the time. on call, for what? Crazy mom can't wait 2 secs. only one room anyhow.

I love doing my own work though, mainly cause, it's mine. I shoot what I want and it's great.

Ready for this one. Right now I'm in school but off track. My wife is on track and taking classes. On top of that we own and opperate a infant and toddler clothing store, a home theater installation business, and I work full time at a local gas station (it pays really well). Why would we do so much all at once? Well we just want to get out of debt. Between all this we should be out of debt by middle of next year. If I really push my home theater business... by Febuary. Anyone need some home audio equipment at a good price? =)

Im almost done with school so I think ill try to get some work doing cad/3d modeling.

how almost?
if you're almost done then just stick it out and wait until you are done so you can use your qualification.
By the way, when you school, do you mean year 12-13 (or whatever you call it)?

i like my job at t-mobile...u do practically nothing..get commission and cant beat a $10 unlimited phone plan. there are about five of us in a small store and we're like a family and like our own bosses half the time..the only thing i dislike about it is that i am not getting as much hours as i would like. the only thing keeping me there and compensating for only getting part time hours is my commission check and the fantastically low workload...im out of class this semester and wnat a little more time on the schedule..but thats not happening soon

I like what I do. Sure, there are times that any job is going to be a pain, but on the whole, I'm doing exactly what I want to do. Then factor in that I make decent wages and benefits (as compared to my peers), its safe to say that Yogs is a happy guy.

I recommend looking into some Microstation experience.
A lot of the top international working firms use it.

I like my job. Excellent salary and benefits, good hours and most importantly my manager doesn't micro-manage. He lets me run my own little world without interference. Throughout most of the day he has no idea where I am or what I am doing - he only knows that I get the job done and that's good enough for him.

No complaints here - the firm I work for is consistently voted into Fortune Magazines "100 Best Companies to work for":bananasmi

I love my job. I work at the John W Engeman threater in northport. It's 2 minutes from my house and about 7 walking. I do valet there, make great money in tips and drive bmw, Merc, Audi's etc all day long. I work from thursday through Sunday. I get to get dressed up in Black on Black dress everything. I only work for maybe 2 out of the 5-7 hours I'm there due to the fact it's a show so there's only a rush in an rush out. The rest of the freetime I have I use for my studies and papers. I probably make way more then the average student working almost 1/4 of the time (Most of it's off the books because it's all tips + Base pay not tip which is 7.50 per hr). The biggest perk... working with absolutley gorgeous girls who are mostly single :)

+ I have one of the coolest managers in world who I respect as Boss as well as a great friend. [I also work with my best friend too (aka Ludespeed501 on here)]

I just started this new job of mine, but I like it alot.

I'm the Junior Fire Technologist/Junior Analytical Chemist/Tech Writer for the HPVA. I mostly set things on fire all day. Considering I don't have my degree yet and am not in school at the moment, I have a great job. There's only about 10 of us in the office, and I'm the only real tester. Every now and then I'll grab someone to help me out, but I can do most of it on my own. It also pays very well and has great benefits.

This summer I had fallen into debt. Not only did I need to find a job as soon as possible after being laid off from my last one, U-Haul was an easy hire because a friend had been working there already and she was a good reference.

Ok ok, so I got new job and a interview for 3 others. I'll probably wind up working 3 jobs. So it's two freelance positions. I'm a freelance photographer for 2 different companies and hopefully something more steady at Circuit City or Target which I'm ok with. Circuit City, what's to it? Easy and sweet. Target would be stocking from 4am-1pm, like my dream job. I'm off early enough to be ready for freelance work yet I already worked a full day. And if I don't work anything freelance, I got the day with my girl. :D

Life took a quick turn around, just took almost a month to get to it.

For those that are in school and working a crappy job that they hate, hang in there because graduation's coming.

For the record, I don't like my job.

I LOVE my job.

I've worked for 20 years to become a Commercial Pilot and am now in initial training to fly for a cargo company.

i love my job. the hours are long (11 hours a day, 6 days a week) it's very work-intensive, quite stressful and i have to deal with my fair share of stupid people.

i'm a tyre fitter and shop manager, i really enjoy it. especially when i'm left to run the shop.

My job is awesome, i'm a local truck driver. Pick up my truck in the morning, go out and do my route at my own pace, get to do whatever I want to as long as the truck comes back empty at the end of the day. No one bothers me and I get to drive all day.

I love my job also... but it's what I dropped everything else to train for. I'm a mechanic in a small shop located in a nice little town called Vineland, which is in the heart of wine country in the Niagara region of Southern Ontario.

I'm not to big on wine, but the folks pay thier bills on time and I get to meet and deal with a lot of people. I like when my boss decides he wants to go to his cottage for a long week-end and it ends up being me and one other guy in the shop. Actually I hardly see him, auctions for the car sales lot on tuesdays, fridays not to be seen, and in and out the rest of the week, and oh yeah... closed Sat and Sun..

I get to use the place on the week-ends for those non-stop upgrades and mods i like doing to the family car...haha

truth is, I never stuck around anywhere I didnt like, even if it meant things would be tight... but thats me. All the tough and hard times I've seen have gotten me to where I am... so while others suffer each day dreading what they are doing, I'm saying... shit I'm glad I was brave enough and bold enough to say.. Blow me, I'm gonna do want I want to do NOW!!!! I love it.

Thanks to a surgery I no longer have a job. I was working as a computer tech at a store in Orem, UT. I love working on computers and I liked my co-worker. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that they didn't offer health insurance.

i love my job. I honestly graduated highschool this past june and had plans to go into film production and being in Utah (the 3rd most filmed in state) there are plenty of ways for me to get into the industry. Although i was planning to work with crews doing actual movies and shows i found a group of people on a website called www.onthethrottle.tv who needed an assistant. I contacted them and within a few weeks was out at miller motorsports park helping them film a WERA weekend for practice for the upcoming AMA weekend the next week. Went great and after that i had a bit of a break then went with them to the east coast to follow the AMA superbike tour going to VIR, Road Atlanta, and to a small course in illinois for a trackday. Unfortunately i missed laguna seca which is also one of my favorite tracks but there's always next year.

I freakin hate my job at the hospital I work at. It is the absolute pits dealing with sick people on a regular basis, but the pay is good so I'll stick with until I graduate in December:ylsuper:

I love my other job at school doing genetic engineering...it's challenging and tedious, but it's like solving one huge puzzle and once you figure out what all the pieces are and how they work, everything falls together. Hopefully my career path will also be in this area, I doubt I'll ever get sick of it.
